About this listen
It's a truth universally acknowledged that a single woman in possession of a good job, four bossy sisters and a needy cat must also have want of her one true love. Or is it?
Another delightful novel from the author of The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts. Perfect for fans of Lucy Diamond and Jenny Colgan
Verity Love – Jane Austen fangirl and an introvert in a world of extroverts – is perfectly happy on her own (thank you very much), and her fictional boyfriend Peter is very useful for getting her out of unwanted social events. But when a case of mistaken identity forces her to introduce a perfect stranger as her boyfriend, Verity’s life suddenly becomes much more complicated.
Johnny could also use a fictional girlfriend. Against Verity’s better judgement, he persuades her to partner up for a summer season of weddings, big number birthdays and garden parties, with just one promise – not to fall in love with each other…

Excellent book for any Pride and Prejudice fan
My first Annie Darling book and I loved it! I especially enjoyed all the references to Pride and Prejudice throughout the book, which were very cleverly integrated into the story. The main character, Verity Love, was very likable and the interaction between her and her 4 sisters was very funny and realistic. I will be listening to more Annie Darling books in the future and highly recommend this one to anyone wanting something funny and light hearted to listen too.

Enertaining
This book is a lighthearted and entertaining listen. It's great to have on in the background while you're busy with other things as it doesn't require your full attention. The only thing that annoyed me about this book was the jarring Americanisms that the author threw in here and there. Considering that the book is set in England with English characters it is very jarring to suddenly hear them using terms like braid and sneakers, instead of plait and trainers. The narrator was good and had a nice, clear voice. Not sure I would get another book from this author due to the weird scattering of foreign terms as it really did distract from the story for me.

Wow!
I loved the first book... but this book was the best book I've read in a very long time.
The characters are so realistic you really empathise with them, even knowing how it'll end you go through the roller coaster of emotions with them. If you love books and a happy ending you won't regret buying this book.
I'm so sad the 3rd book is released tomorrow but I have to wait an unknown amount of time for the audio version... I can't wait I'm hooked! I have a new favourite author!
This book has inspired me to re-listen to Pride and Prejudice though :)

Easy-listening wholesome romance
For an audiobook, this story made great listening and was a comforting and relaxing story, voiced well and captured well audibly. The story felt dragged out and guessable at times, but this isn't necessarily negative for this type of story, and ended satisfyingly. An improvement on the first book, in my opinion, and I loved the intertwined Pride and Prejudice quotes and romance book themes.
