Summary
True Mate is the first book in the Prosper Woods Chronicles, but don't miss True Knight, the incredible prequel to the series!
When I moved to Prosper Woods, California, a couple of weeks ago, I’d had big plans for a quiet life. Let’s just say, things haven’t exactly turned out the way I expected they would. For one thing, as new sheriff, I hadn’t planned on investigating a murder the day after my arrival. For another thing, no one told me supernatural creatures existed. I didn’t believe it at first, but when Vincent Lasco suddenly smiled at me with a mouth full of fangs, things got interesting.
Quiet small-town life indeed!
The moment I decided to take Sheriff Romeo Harmon home for a roll in the sheets, I knew hiding my true nature was a huge mistake. Then again, things never turn out the way I expect. The simple life of anonymity I’d hoped to have in Prosper Woods has blown up in my face in the most poetic and spectacular way. Not only that, the guy isn’t even aware that he has secrets of his own. How a guy could have lived all his life not knowing what he was, seems nearly impossible but in his case, I know it’s true.
Supernaturals are everywhere!
The town of Prosper Woods has a couple of new residents who at first glance, seem very unsuited for small town life. Before long though, I realized they were right for the town...probably the only right thing about this weird place. Surprisingly, they fit right in.
Things are about to get interesting!

A continuation of the adventure
I’m back in Prosper Woods. Our new sheriff Romeo is investigating a murder and he’s starting to sense there’s something different about his co-workers. Perhaps about most people in town. And then there’s his boyfriend who’s also new in town. A few people have already discerned Vincent’s true nature and to say they’re not happy about it is an understatement.
But this is Prosper Woods where anything can happen.
Things seem fairly normal – or as normal as they can be when surrounded by supes. Romeo has discovered – quite spectacularly – that he’s a supe. His true nature was never revealed when he was a cop in LA but up here in Northern California? Surrounded by all that nature? He’s in the know now.
More characters were properly introduced in this book, and although I love Sally the deputy, it’s Precious who stole my heart. And made me laugh.
I learned that werewolves have to shift during a full moon – something I didn’t know. But I’m still newer in the paranormal realm.
Romeo has his work cut out for him just as Vincent’s past shows up and things get chaotic in his life. There’s plenty of action inside and outside the bedroom and certainly enough to keep my interested. I can’t wait for the conclusion of the series.
John Solo narrates these books and I think he was a great choice to helm this series. Okay, off to the next book.

Book 1 was also read by John Solo! Yay!
Mr Solo is one of my favorite voice actors in the genre and it is always a treat to hear his smooth and charismatic voice reading a interesting book like this one. I enjoyed a lot its dynamic, how fluid and entertaining was the intrícate plot and all the wonderful characters, sweet surprises, heartwarming moments and the original paranormal twists. I recommend to read first the prequel. it helped me a lot to understand the main situations and how the world is built in this series. A great book masterfully narrated! Yay!

Amazing new series
Patricia Logan and John Solo outdid themselves. What a wonderful and unusual story. I recommend reading True Knight before listening to True mate, so you can fully enjoy the story line. I can hardly wait for the next installment of Proper Woods Chronicles.

Brilliant Second Book! ❤️❤️
Patricia Logan goes from strength to strength in the 1st book of the series, and is following on the story from the novella True Knight.
I’m really loving this series, especially as more characters are being introduced. Not just the MC’s but also Evan and Sam - they are so adorable 🥰
Can’t wait to hear True Blue, the next instalment, as can’t get enough of the folks of Prosper Woods ❤️❤️
5🌟’s for sure, and highly recommend if you love shifter/supernatural books 🥰🥰

The Mystery and Intrigue Continues.
MM paranormal romance, mystery, intrigue and discoveries. Packed full of action and constant drama this is a fast paced story that keeps you guessing throughout. likeable group of main characters and some real nasty ones that keep Sheriff ( and now we know what else ;) ) Rome and Vampire Vincent on their toes. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment, I will say however that because the book continues directly on from the Prologue this series must be listened to in order for full understanding and maximum enjoyment.John Solo gave an applause worthy job of narrating.

Pretty good story and narration
I have already read almost everything by Patricia Logan and listened to some audio books and therefore I was very curious about "True Mate".
Although I have not yet listened to "True Knight", but I will catch up as soon as possible.
Patricia Logan has a great writing style, as it is very captivating and entertaining.
I really liked the story of Romeo and Vincent, I liked both characters from the beginning. However, there are other secondary characters that are also very likable.
Romeo is the new sheriff in the small town of Prosper Woods, which reveals some incredible things. He falls in love with Vincent, a vampire, and he's not the only supernatural being in town.
While Romeo is still learning to deal with his abilities, it's not just one threat that builds.
The book has everything a good book needs: suspense, action, fight scenes, drama, a bit of supernatural, and heat and romance. You can practically feel the attraction between Romeo and Vincent.
Patricia Logan knows how to totally captivate her readers. I want more and am now eagerly awaiting the next audiobook in this series!
John Solo did a great job bringing the characters to life. I really liked his way of reading the story and finding a distinct voice for each character. He also has a great sense of drama and always has the right pace while reading.
True Mate is stunning and absolutely recommended!

Reads more as a second book
While this is the second book in the series, you really should read the prequel book because this reads as a second book the series. I’m still loving all the different magical beings, and there was a good balance of paranormal goings on and chemistry and romance between the MCs. However, this book suffered from what a lot of 2nd books suffer from and introduced way too many plot points without much resolution. I feel like it would’ve been better served to have a more narrow focus. I’m still really enjoying the series overall, and loving John Solo’s narration, so I’ll definitely be continuing!

Really good!
4.25 Stars!
First things first, you definitely need to read, or better yet, listen to True Knight before reading True Mate.
I really enjoyed the continuation of Rome and Vincent's story. They are very well-suited for one another and I'm really liking how they're settling in as a couple. I also liked seeing how Rome is in better control of his 'powers' now.
Also, you need to know that even if the book ends in a HFN, there's a bit of a cliffhanger, or rather, several issues that were left unresolved, which was a bit disappointing. I really liked that we got to see Greg come into his own and I hope we'll get to see more of him and Sam in the next book(s) in the series.
The audiobook was very enjoyable. John Solo did a great job bringing the characters to life. I think one of my favorite parts of the audiobooks has been Mr. Solo reading the letters that the Prosper Town residents submit to the paper, it's so much fun!
Overall, the book was interesting, fast-paced, intriguing, and I'm already looking forward to more. I have no trouble recommending it.
