Summary

According to statistics reported by CDC in 2020, one in 54 children in the USA were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in 2016.

It is suggested that boys are four times more likely to get a diagnosis of autism than girls. Autism does not discriminate; it affects all ethnicities and socio-economic groups. Getting the diagnosis and intervention early is better, however, unfortunately, this does not happen for all families.

Speech and language are highly complex learning areas that we take for granted. This is especially difficult if your child has more complex needs. If you have received a recent autism diagnosis, your mind is probably full of questions, you have likely been looking for answers on the internet. If this sounds like you, then you will have noticed hundreds of different sites offering information that is too complex and lengthy for light bedtime reading, which is probably the only time you’ll have to read without being distracted by what your child is doing.

From the point of view of an experienced professional and a parent, we are going to look at all the different areas of development but with children with ASD. I have put together all the information you need for now, as it is easy to understand and absorb. This is the first book in this series. The other books will focus on all the different areas of difficulties.

In this book:

  • Learn about the ASD diagnosis process
  • Learn to create routines that you and your child can easily manage
  • Discover simple ways to help your child develop their early interaction skills
  • Tips and tricks to manage your child’s anxiety
  • Learn about different types of speech/play therapy you can do at home

The next book is on potty training and mastering personal care skills. There will be books focusing on speech and language development, and much more, so look out for those.

I wish I had this book when my son was young.

Thanks for this very helpful book. It really encouraged me to see that I can seek support during the entire process of finding out how best to help my son thrive.
I was especially touched by the insight into his sensory delays, and how they impact what fears and anxieties he has when navigating the world around him, new smells, new textures, new tastes.
The practical steps for getting through a meltdown are definitely something I want to implement.
Must read for app parents who are thinking about the autism spectrum and how it relates to their situation.

Truly Inspiring and Educational

My involvement with parents whose children are autistic comes as a result of my profession as Pastor, therefore I embraced the opportunity to receive further guidance through this audio product.

I was extremely impressed with the way the author dealt with the truth and facts that every parent has experienced.
The book clearly lays out what to expect and how to navigate what is obviously a difficult terrain. The content takes you through the whole spectrum of parental concern and emotions to the professional outlook.

Above all the book is inspiring – it paints the picture of hope! An autistic person can still live a normal life – to which I must shout – Hallelujah!!!

Perfect for Understand Autism

I don't have autism personally, but it's always good to have different perspectives of human problems. This audiobook seems to have excellent information, and after reading the reviews, I'm not the only one who thinks this. Although this book is for those who are on the spectrum, it doesn't hurt to listen to this audiobook.

Overall, this audiobook has excellent information on the struggles of those who are autistic and is definitely worth purchasing.

Very insightful!

A good listen. This audiobook gives an insight into the understanding of Autism. So many Kids and their parents struggle with Autism without a clue of what it is or how to get help and manage it. The book walks you through how you can navigate the diagnosis process which usually is not straightforward, how your child can develop early interaction skills, and the different speech and play therapy you can do together at home.

A major takeaway for me from this book is understanding sensory delays, and how they impact what fears and anxieties the kids have when navigating the world around them, new smells, new textures, and new tastes. The practical steps for getting through a meltdown are definitely very helpful and should be implemented. This audiobook is a must-have for all parents in understanding the autism spectrum.

great book to have

This audio book encourages parents to see their child and autism seperately. By having the moral awareness you approach things with kindness - it just benefits you. I liked the examples between the different age gaps. I also learned it is exhausting to mask autistic traits - we should be aware of that and treat everyone with respect.

Really helpful!

When I came across this book, I couldn't wait to send it to a friend of mine who works with autistic children. Both her and I found this book really helpful. Useful tips about daily routine, how to handle meltdowns and deal with sensory issues have been really beneficial. My friend has gone on to refer her colleagues to this book because the information is just that good!
