About this listen

Gotrek & Felix, Book 6.

Fresh from the war in Praag, Gotrek and Felix are thrown into a new adventure when their old friend Ulrika Magdova is abducted. Travelling to the accursed land of Sylvania, the pair face a monstrous vampire intent on claiming Ulrika as his bride.

Listen to it because

It's a classic vampire story, complete with haunted castles, abducted maidens (well, Ulrika) and a powerful creature of the night - but with a typically Warhammer twist, of course!

The story

Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than common thieves and murderers? The truth perhaps lies somewhere in between, and depends entirely upon whom you ask....

Fresh from the siege of Praag, dwarf slayer Gotrek Gurnisson and his sworn human companion Felix Jaeger are beset by a new and terrible foe in their unceasing war against Chaos. A powerful evil is rising in darkest Sylvania, and it threatens to reach forth and tear the very heart out of the Empire - and out of Felix's relationship with Ulrika Magdova. Faced with the machinations of a powerful centuries-old vampire, can the duo's deadly battle result in anything but death and tragedy?

Written by William King. Running time 11 hours 14 minutes. Narrated by Jonathon Keeble.

This is an excellent Gotrek and Felix novel, no spoilers here but it’s the most eventful and memorable of the series so far.

It continues Gotrek and Felix’s story intriguingly, mixed in with the funny banter and epic voice acting, it is amazing as always Classic Gotrek and Felix

How far would you go to save an former lover that`s enthralled by a vampire. Felix finds out in this tale of shivery versus self doubt, Gotrek has his mind already made up.

Vampires can`t resist a beautiful neck.

Adore this series start to finish, but its habit of abrupt endings really feels detrimental here, the better part of 10 hours spent building real, emotional stakes (vampire joke) towards an ending that speeds through in about 30 minutes, secondary named cast members dead in between cuts with no acknowledgement and a resolution that happens too fast for emotional weight to really land.

all that said, everything leaving up to that is pure G&F goodness and the ending can't detract from the character work that makes the rest of the story so good.

The weakest in the saga so far, but still great

The only bad thing about this book is the knowledge of the long wait for the next one when it's finished.

Good stuff.

Still makes mirth of madness with its exceptional narration and riveting story. Delightfully fleshed out characters with the perfect amount of depth-to-sterotype ratio. Light spoiler: more of the same, and I am very glad for it!

Supremely enjoyable
