About this listen

Put the kettle on, there’s a mystery brewing…

'Vera Wong is my new favourite sleuth' Elle Cosimano

Tea-shop owner. Matchmaker. Detective?

Sixty-year-old self-proclaimed tea expert Vera Wong enjoys nothing more than sipping a good cup of Wulong and doing some healthy ‘detective’ work on the internet (AKA checking up on her son to see if he’s dating anybody yet).

But when Vera wakes up one morning to find a dead man in the middle of her tea shop, it’s going to take more than a strong Longjing to fix things. Knowing she’ll do a better job than the police possibly could – because nobody sniffs out a wrongdoing quite like a suspicious Chinese mother with time on her hands – Vera decides it’s down to her to catch the killer.

Nobody spills the tea like this amateur sleuth.

I really enjoyed this audio. The narrator brings the story to life with authentic accents. The story is based on believable characters, maybe not believable circumstances, but a really good tale nevertheless with lots of twists and turns.
The main character is well-drawn and amusing. There was never a dull moment in this audiobook.

Unusual Whodunit!

This book was a hit for me. This was my first foray into the cozy category, and I get it now, especially the careful tea preparation scenes felt so comforting. The main character is hilariously self righteous, and yet the author manages to keep her likable.
The story veered a tiny bit into cheesy territory at times for me, but I am fine with that for this type of book. The narration was excellent, I really loved the authentic accents and pronunciation. Already preordered part two!

Loved this, cozy, amusing, and entertaining!
