About this listen
Allyssa is a young college student living her life to please her upper-crust family who want her to take business courses, join her father’s business, and marry the “right” man.
Allyssa loves animals and yearns to take courses that speak to her heart, but her family are deaf to her pleas and she is unable or unwilling to stand up to them.
Fiona is an older, more established woman; a veterinarian working towards the goal of starting her own large animal practice.
When a young woman arrives on her doorstep one night carrying a dog she may have fatally injured with her car, Fiona is thrown for a loop.
Vetted - a life that neither woman anticipated, but each learns they want desperately.
Will their families, the fates, and rustlers finally bring these women to their knees?
The only way they can survive is to stand strong together, but are they both ready to fight for what they want?
Only time will tell....

Entertaining story with all round good feelings.
I enjoyed this audio book. I wanted to give five stars but I found the victimization of the "young woman" by her family was a bit too much to swallow. Lots of stereotypical casting of characters. The "young woman" was almost a Cinderella caricature at times, did her mother hate her for some unexplained reason.
When the MC's move on, the story becomes enjoyable and I really liked where it took me. Sweet romantic interludes with their growing love and understanding of each other. The inner strength that rises from them both to form a strong union.
I was given a free code for my honest review. If I had used a credit I would not have regretted the purchase.

Vet
I loved this book, but I have been off putting this book for a while and have chosen to listen to other books before this one, the reason is the front cover. For me the front cover doesn’t jump out at you, it looks like an old book cover and doesn’t look lesbian, (note to author: I think you would have been better putting two women on the front cover, with one in a vet jacket, also not forgetting a picture of Rex the dog as he was a main part of the story, I think then a lot more people would realise what the story is about). To be honest I am disappointed that I waited so long to listen to this book as I really enjoyed it.
The story was a very sweet and romantic, the two main characters had great chemistry and it had a great story. I won’t say too much as I think people should go and buy it so then you get all the emotions that come along while listening to it. The book was well narrated and well written, I will be listening to the rest of the stories.

Good story spoiled by factual inaccuracies
In book one of K' Anne Meinel's trilogy, the author's failure to stick to facts is a real shame. It seems that she simply did not spend sufficient time on research to convincingly depict animal behaviour, animal welfare and C21st veterinary medicine, which spoilt my enjoyment of this audiobook somewhat. Also, Allyssa, who has previously shown both intelligence and initiative at times becomes slow and stupid which is an irritatingly unconvincing plot contrivance that I could not buy into. However, it is an interesting and at times exciting story and the narrator does well at reading the text.
K' Anne Meinel's epic trilogy could and should be an American, lesbian classic. It is a sad testament to lack of attention to detail that it falls short of this ideal. It is, nevertheless, an enjoyable listen, just don't believe many of the facts you will hear.
