Summary

Oran
Lina Schultze is a pawn.
A shiny piece of plastic I’ll use in my plan for revenge.

I’ll seduce her. Claim her.
Then flaunt my acquisition in front of her ex, Lawrence Wellington—
The man I plan to destroy.

Once my mission is complete, I’ll send Lina packing.

She’ll be the easiest and most … pleasurable part of my vengeance.
Charming her away from a man old enough to be her father won’t be an issue.

And if it comes down to it, I’m not above using force.

Lina
Oran Byrne has made his intentions clear—
He’ll stop at nothing to have me.

But he’s just like every other rich, entitled asshole.
He doesn't know me.
All he sees is a pretty object to be possessed and discarded.

They all underestimate me.

I’ve come back to the Olympus Club for a reason,
And I won’t let anything stop me,
Least of all a smooth-talking criminal with arsenic on his tongue.

If Oran expects me to fall into his open arms,
He’s in for a world of disappointment.

*Vicious Seduction is the fourth book in The Byrne Brothers series. Each book in the series features a different couple and can be listened to as a standalone with a happily ever after, but for maximum enjoyment, follow the recommended listening order. A dark romance with adult themes, Vicious Seduction may not be suitable for sensitive audiences as it deals with matters of past sexual assault.

A Note from the Author: Rivals to lovers has never been as deliciously seductive as Oran and Lina’s story. Bold, determined, and ruthless, these two go head-to-head, and the result is explosive in the most delectable way. Get ready for sexual tension dripping from every captivating page!

For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!

A must listen!

This is my first book by this author so I didn’t know what to expect going into this. I also went in completely blind and my god this book packed a punch! It was one hell of a ride.

Vicious Seduction is book four of The Byrne Brothers series and it can be read as a standalone, which is how I am reading, however, I will be going back and reading the rest of the series now I have read this book!

Lina was such a strong, intelligent, determined and resilient character, she has been through some rough times in her life and I found myself drawn to her from the very beginning. I found I could really relate to her and the struggles she’s been through. She’s out for revenge and she will stop at nothing until she gets it. She’s unstoppable, a bad*** and she’s a woman on a mission.

Oran is something else… I couldn’t get enough of him. He was ALPHA as they come and he was kind of stubborn and most definitely bitter, but I chalk that down to his (soon-to-be-ex) wife and her betrayal, it has led him to have major trust issues.

Oran is also on his own mission and has his own agenda. He has made some mistakes in the past, trusted all the wrong people and he’s about to get revenge and he has set out to right the wrongs. It’s time to make people pay for the things they’ve done. On his mission, Lina and he cross paths and their separate plans align a deal is made between the both of them and they start to work together.

Lina and Oran?? It took them a while but when they finally gave in to how they felt and their undeniable attraction to each other, the sexual tension, chemistry and connection were intense, to say the least. Oran showed his dominant side when it came to the bedroom and hit damn I’m here for it! Oran has become a new favourite book boyfriend of mine now!

I’m not going to give away much else but I will say this is one hell of a roller coaster, there are so many twists and turns, and when I thought I had figured things out, the author threw a curve ball! I’m so glad I gave this author and book a chance! I can’t wait to read her backlist, if her other books are like this one, I know I will love them!!

A fitting finale to the series

The last book in the Byrne Brothers series and Oran Byrne is a man on a mission in this dark, slowburn mafia romance. His target is the wealthy Lawrence Wellington, on the surface a successful businessman but underneath is something dark. When he sees Wellington with Lina, he sees a way of doing it. But what starts out as revenge against the man he holds responsible for the death of a young girl soon becomes more when he learns of a depraved secret society hidden in plain sight within the elite club Olympus.

With plenty of tension between the hero and heroine, even though the romance is slowburn, the overall story moves at a fast pace as the plot unfolds. They both have trust issues, but their main problem is a lack of communication. Oran is a bit of damaged character with some guilt after his estranged wife was responsible for his father’s death. Even though theirs wasn’t a love match he hadn’t seen the evil in her so when he looks at Lina, he initially assumes sees a younger woman out with an older man for his money. Lina has her own agenda for dating Wellington. She’s desperately looking for her younger sister but after already being betrayed by her mother she doesn’t know if she can dare trust Oran with her secrets. After Noemi and Connor’s story this is my favourite book in the series although I am a little upset that we haven’t had Shae’s story especially after she was last heard of keeping company with a mysterious Irish man.

Jason Clarke was perfectly cast as Oran. He managed to imbue all of Oran’s arrogance and remoteness into his performance. Jo Raylan was a new to me narrator and while I couldn’t fault the delivery of her performance, she just didn’t sound like I had imagined the feisty but vulnerable Lina would. If anything, I felt she made Lina sound older than she was and, as a result I didn’t find myself getting as lost in this audiobook as I normally would.

Fabulous romantic suspense!

Oh my! Jill Ramsower has caught my attention and not given it back to me yet! This perfect mix of romance and suspense kept me on edge as it won my heart. Oran has seen Lina as the perfect revenge. With charm like his, it will be easy to win her heart, get some satisfaction and what he needs against his enemy. Little does he know she is on a mission of her own. Lina is smart, she won't give into the charisma of Oran until she just can't help herself. But when she finds out his real intentions, and she lets hers out, the two realize there is more to their relationship than just chemistry. Working together to get to the same point may be the way out. And their feelings are just a benefit. But what will happen when danger comes to Lina? Will Oran get to her in time? Will they find out the answer and get he desired result? Ramsower is a master at keeping the twists and turns coming as the spice level rises. I loved every minute of this fabulous romantic suspense.

Two of my favorites are telling this story, and brought all the excitement to my ears. Jo Raylan as Lina is strong, confident and ready to get it all. She uses her voice to add bits of vulnerability, and gives it her all to Lina as she trusts her heart. Jason Clarke is Oran, and he is chock full of charm. Oran is self assured and gives that feeling of protective love with an air of danger. Loved these two together, it was a real treat.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Intense!

Jill Ramsower pens another thrilling romantic suspense set in her amazing “Bryne Brothers’ series. This book features Oran Byrne and Lina Schultze and their paths cross while both are on a mission of their own. Oran sees Lina as an opportunity of revenge, except Lina wants nothing to do with him, but he is resourceful and gives her no choice. Oran is ruthless and determined to get what he wants regardless of what they want or need, but he met his match in Lina. Neither one trust each other, or know what the other is up to, but that does not stop them from moving forward. I despised Lina’s mother and stepfather and who they were involved with, they were evil and depraved and Lina was in way over her head. She may not have known what she was in for, but Byrne was always a step ahead of her. I loved all the layers of this story, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. This book captivated my attention from start to end, the story has plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Jill Ramsower, thank you for another amazing story and the wild and exciting ride!

🎧📚🎧Jo Raylan and Jason Clarke did a fabulous job bringing these characters and story to life. Their portrayal of each character was spot-on, giving each their own voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the character would sound. Clarke nailed it as Oran, intense and dangerous with a side of arrogance, definitely a man who knows who he is, what he wants and gets it. Raylan was just as amazing as Lina, strong headed, determined and fierce. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration elevates this story to another level. Thank you for another amazing listen.

Great selection

Placements of characters and situations in previous books that at the time of reading, you had no idea how relevant they would become, are all tied up in a neat bow in this book. a thoroughly enjoyable series of books with great performances from the narrator's throughout each book.

Oran got his happily ever after

After the end of the previous book, I couldn't wait to know what the deal was between Oran and Lina. The former had been betrayed by his wife, the latter had been seen besides a really bad guy, both two books prior. Yet Lina arrived on Oran's arm at Torin and Stormy's wedding and was introduced as his fiancé. I was intrigued.

This book starts several weeks before the wedding, but after the events involving Wellington, one of the villains in this story. Lina and Oran both have plans about the man, and they meet at a club. Plans means secrets means miscommunication. Despite having biased opinions on each other, they also feel instant attraction. It's cliché to have two characters lusting after each other when they also despise each other, but that's okay. It created some tension that kept me interested.

The other kind of tension was the mysteries the author kept to herself for a long time, mostly about Lina's motivations. While Oran's story was told completely in a previous book, in order to make this one a standalone, the author includes the main plot points. As for Lina, we barely saw her before and know nothing about her, so her schemes are a total mystery. There are hints here and there, but the biggest revelations are kept for key moments between Oran and Lina. Also, even though we are in the know about Oran, Lina has no idea who he is, hence her mistrust. All along, only the author has all the pieces of the puzzle. Usually, miscommunication as the main conflict is my pet peeve, since it's so easy to just talk, and that should be an important element in a relationship. But here, it was mostly understandable for the reasons listed above. I say mostly, because there was one instance that was avoidable and it annoyed me a bit.

Human trafficking has been in the background of this series since the beginning--with the 'virtuous' main family innocent of this particular crime of course. We delve a bit more into the trafficking ring, and the corrupted elite that is okay with it. They are written with no redeeming qualities, which I found a bit too much. I enjoy my villains with more nuances. But I suppose it's required when your heroes are also criminals.

Families--the one you hate, the one you choose, the one you're jealous of, the one you're looking for--were an important element of the story. Oran's and Lina's are opposites, and that point came across a few times. On the other hand, the fact that they had both lost their father could have brought them closer, but it was never even suggested.

Did I buy the feelings they claimed having for each other? Not totally. I mean, the author develops the way Oran's opinion of Lina changes by watching her, admiring her then falling for her. While Lina's feelings never go past lust, I felt, until it was suddenly love.

It was still a nice addition to the series, and I'm glad Oran got his happily ever after too.

That was a quality audiobook. The male narrator was good, as usual, but I especially enjoyed the female narrator. Her voice was perfect for Lina. She brought all the character's emotions to life.
