Summary

The space mission of a lifetime

An epic saga of America’s might-have-been, Voyage is a powerful, sweeping novel of how, if President Kennedy had lived, we could have sent a manned mission to Mars in the 1980s. Imaginatively created from the true lives and real events, Voyage returns to the geniuses of NASA and the excitement of the Saturn rocket and includes historical figures from Neil Armstrong to Ronald Reagan who are interwoven with unforgettable characters whose dreams mirror the promise of a young space program that held the world in thrall. There is: Dana, the Nazi camp survivor who achieves the dream of his hated masters; Gershon, the Vietnam fighter jock determined to be the first African American to land on another planet; and Natalie York, the brilliant geologist/astronaut who risks a career and love for the chance to run her fingers through the soil of another world.

An interesting alternate history post Apollo…

I enjoyed this book, though it did take some effort at times to get through the whole story.
Before the timeline diverges significantly it read more like a slightly altered history of Apollo, though cleverly allows you to see ahead for brief spells.
Worth persevering with, overall a listen to enjoy!

Excellent research and imagination

Brilliant story, but seriously let down by the narration. His intonation and cadence were immensely irritating.

Long, detailed and interesting.

How VERY nice to have a book like this! Not just long, detailed and interesting, but informative despite being fiction. I remember the Kennedy assassination, the moon landings, and the shuttle disasters and wish that this novel was what really happened and that history was the fiction.
Well-drawn characters with no stereotypes, and very little personal stuff detailed in their lives. That, in itself, is a joy; so many novels rattle on a out romance, sex and marriage, divorce etc. which is so distracting....and boring.
Re-reading it right now!

Couldn't finish book narration wasn't good

I am irritated that I can't return this book and claim my credit back.

far too many audio books have awful narration and a sample isn't enough to work with

The premise of this book was good but the narration jarred so much I stopped after a couple of hours. the narration feels so monotonous and dull that I kept losing myself or the gist of the story as there wasn't enough change in tone, or when changing characters and sometimes I felt the emphasis was wrong.

I love audio books but I'm going off them after continually finding narration problem.

apparently Audible also thinks so as it won't let me return this book for my credit back which is a bad call.. as I won't renew my membership .

anyway potentially good book bit I wouldn't know.
