Narrators voice was a bit strident for me but otherwise I loved it. Especially loved the humour. 'pride of a lion...brain of a side of bacon' ! This is the first Barbara Metzger book I have read but I will certainly be looking for more now.

I love the wit of Barbara Metzger but, coupled with the brilliant narration of Pippa Rathborne, it becomes a marriage made in heaven; pure delight from start to finish. Yes, the plots can be a bit silly, but that is the point. It is full of laugh out loud moments and a few sad moments too, but you know all will work out by the end. I wish the audiobook powers that be could get Pippa Rathborne to read some of Joan Smith’s witty Regency novels. There is a huge audience for well written, humorous romances that don’t involve vampires, shape shifters, anachronistic language and the rest. More like this, please.
