About this listen

'Crime fiction at its best.' Keri Beevis

Why does someone want the Lawrence family dead?

The Lawrences were the perfect family: successful, beautiful and happy, until one night their whole world was ripped apart.

Detective Sergeant Jenna Morgan is called to investigate the suspected arson attack and death of the Lawrence family at the charred remains of their stunning home, Kimble Hall.

The case takes a sinister turn as the body count fails to tally.

Suspecting that someone may have survived the inferno, DS Morgan and her team need to discover whether they are looking for a witness, or someone far more dangerous.

Who set the fire? Who wanted this family extinguished beyond recognition?

As the case progresses, DS Morgan realises she has a calculating, cold-blooded killer on her hands, and the race is on to track them down before they kill again...

A gripping psychological crime novel from bestselling author Diane Saxon, perfect for fans of Cara Hunter.

Story was interesting enough but the absolutely awful attempts at accents by the narrator 100% put me off for the entire story. Black Country sounded part Welsh, part Yorkshire.

Off putting narrator!

Third in the series, these books get better and better as the leading characters personalities develop. Looking forward to the next one.

Loved it!

The emotional descriptions are excellent and the storyline good. Phrases such as "swiped his/her ..., hunkered down, brooked no, sucked air ... and more continuously applied to characters are somewhat repetitive and though imply the correct emphasis could be substituted by new descriptives. Don't get me wrong, every writer has their own style and I love this one.

loved it but repetitive descriptions.

A great story that kept me inthralled right to the end. The author has amazing talent when it comes to descriptive descriptions which I enjoyed immensely. I did think halfway through the book that I had clicked into another book as the story went off in a different direction but that was all part of the lead characters job and was very cleverly written.

Very descriptive, a very good read.
