Summary

London is a powder keg...and Eliza Braxton is the match.

Imagine a London where magic is real...real, but feared. This is Eliza Braxton's London, and she has always accepted her place in it gladly. As one of the Riftborn, her magic has relegated her to the servant class, where she dutifully serves as the lady's maid in one of the most powerful households in the country. There, she uses her remarkable powers of persuasion to keep Elder Hallewell's rebellious daughter in the path to an arranged match of power and prosperity. Eliza has never questioned her loyalty...until now.

Currents of discontent are roiling beneath the city's surface, and Eliza's comfortable existence is about to be caught up in the tide. A resistance is building, a resistance that covets Eliza's talents above all else. But can Eliza betray everything she's ever known for things she never dared to dream?

Terrible Narrator

I had really been looking forward to this because I’d enjoyed the Gateway trilogy and the Gateway Trackers so much but the narrator reading this book is awful. I can’t concentrate on the story because the of way the narrator is reading. Very disappointed.

Great Storyline but the Narrator awful

Loved the storyline as with all EE Holmes books, but the narrator is better suited to bodice ripping novels, her voice was so breathy I though she was having an attack of the vapors!!!!
think I will probably read the next in the series rather than listen to it.

Sorry to be returning because of bad narration

Loved all EE Holmes books so far, love this book and story to read but the Narration is totally awful, one of the worst narrations ive ever "tried" to listen to, she reads the story like she is reading a bad young childrens scary book?? and sadly the narrator has a bad sibilance which was made worse by the long slow drawn out way she read the story, sad to not be able to listen this new book..

review of book

The story is gripping and it leaves you wanting to know what will happen next. But the narrator's voice is just terrible.

Awful narration

I have thoroughly enjoyed EE Holmes books and was looking forward to this book. The narration was so bad, I found it hard to listen to and understand what was happening in the book. Sadly the narration has completely ruined my experience and could not continue listening. Please, please get another narrator.
