About this listen

1853. In the serene countryside of rural Yorkshire, Caroline and Trixie's unbreakable bond, forged amidst the hardships of York's slums, is the cornerstone of their shared dream: to transform their modest farm into a flourishing haven. . .Amidst this toil, Caroline finds herself caught in a delicate dance with Max Cavendish, the charismatic land agent of Melliton Abbey estate. Caroline remains hesitant to confront her own feelings, unwilling to risk their friendship.

Trixie also must deal with concerns of the heart. Will the flirtations with Thomas Cavendish lead to more, or will her past destroy everything? However, the arrival of Max's cunning cousin, Wayland, unleashes a series of damaging events, as he sets out to sabotage Caroline and Trixie's happiness. With their future once more uncertain, Caroline and Trixie must summon every ounce of strength to overcome the trials that threaten them.

This series of books have got everything; hardship, intrigue, cruelty, sadness and love, I have felt all kinds of emotions; anger and excitement have had me at the end of my seat, whilst at other times I have felt wrapped up in the warmth of the love and care these people have for each other. Love the depiction of the different characters and simply adore this narrator, she is magic in the way she tells the story. If you only listen to one book series this year, let it be this one, you will not regret it❣️👏❤️

Love the flow of the story from the first book, now looking forward to book 3. The story is captivating!
