Heart wrenching and beautiful
I love the way Kimberley Freeman pulls me into the world’s she creates, and makes the landscapes, people and surroundings so rich and intricate.
I found this story, out of all Kimberley Freeman’s the hardest but also the most compelling to listen to because of the events that the young protagonist goes through. I was cheering her on, wanting things to work out for her. I think she might actually be my favourite lead in all of her books, and I’ve read most of them!
I also loved how the towns in Tasmania are brought to life so vividly. I really felt like I was there, and the atmosphere was perfect.
I don’t really have an dislikes for this book. I did find that I have to invest more at the start of the story to really get drawn in, but I personally like that style and once it gets going, it’s really well paced.
I also have a lot of affection for this narrator that has done several of Freeman’s books. Her accents aren’t 100% spot on but I find her voice, tone and pitch so easy to listen to, that I don’t mind the accents.
I wish there were more books of Freeman’s/Wilkins on audible!

Awful Scottish accents
This may be a good story, but the narrator is hopeless at regional British accents and this really ruins the book.
