Summary
1984, Suffolk: When 17-year-old Eva goes missing at sea, everyone presumes that she drowned. Her parents' relationship is falling apart, undermined by guilt and grief. But her younger sister, Faith, refuses to consider a life without Eva; she's determined to find her sister and bring her home alive.
Close to the shore looms the shape of an island - out of bounds, mysterious, and dotted with windowless concrete huts. What nobody knows is that inside one of the huts Eva is being held captive. That she is fighting to survive - and return home.
In a captivating blend of mystery, thriller, and emotional family drama, Without You will leave you unsettled, even as it touches your heart.

Clever plot.
I enjoyed the book after a somewhat questionable start when it took me time to sort out who was who. Once I got the hang of it with the two different families, it went well and became intriguing and beautiful and horrific in turn. I thought it was a cleverly contrived plot. The narration was good too. PJ

Survival of the fittest
This is the first time I have heard of and listened to a book by this author. The narrative was fab and would highly recommend it for a good listen.
The story was quite sombre and intense in part but was really interesting. I wanted to know what the outcome was for all the characters, apart from the au-pair who was quite creepy. I felt the writing was very clear and precise and I could follow the story really easily. I liked the way it moved between the island with Eva and Danny and the mainland with her family and sister Faith. The story also went back in time to when Eva's parents first met and their early married life. There are interesting reveals within the story and to see how Eva changes from a teenager to an adult in her outlook as a result of her time on the island and the hardship she has to endure. In a way it was her resolve and drive to get home which kept her going. I would highly recommend this book and will be looking for others by this author.
