About this listen

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo, read by Mozhan Marno.

She will become a legend, but first she is Diana, Princess of the Amazons. And her fight is just beginning....

Diana is desperate to prove herself to her warrior sisters. But when the opportunity comes, she throws away her chance at glory and breaks Amazon law to save a mere mortal, Alia Keralis. With this single heroic act, Diana may have just doomed the world.

Alia is a Warbringer - a descendant of the infamous Helen of Troy, fated to bring about an age of bloodshed and misery. Diana and Alia will face an army of enemies, mortal and divine, determined to destroy or possess the Warbringer.

To save the world, they must stand side by side against the tide of war.

Great

I am not wonder woman fan so initially I just scrolled past, but then decided to read the reviews and gave it a shot. I knew I will enjoy it very much about 15mins in. It made me laugh, it made me tear up, it made me think. Great story, very much unrelated to any movie (no idea about comic books) and really hope we will get second book!

Nice story in the Wonder Woman universe.

If you've seen the film, you should enjoy this story. It's not based on the film, however, it is good enough to stand alone as a different tale altogether.

Wondrous Whirlwind

Absolutely amazing story, characters, mythos and read. Great take on the Legend of Wonder Woman and I hope that more comes from this story. One of the best Wonder Woman retelling to date. 💛💙❤️

A good Listen

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book. I have to say it surprised me. Granted it was a bit predictable in places, However, if you like comic books in general then I'm sure you'll at least like this. Not sure if I would suggest it to someone unfamiliar with the source material though.

I'm off to go read book 2 in the DC Icons series.

Wonder woman - great story

Firstly, this is not a film tie-in. It's a stand-alone story in the Wonder Woman universe. and thus includes super-hero elements along with supernatural/Greek mythological elements.
We meet Diana as a late teen who is still deciding how she fits in with her sister Amazons and with the great unknown world of humans. The story involves her making some really life-changing decisions and how she meets them, and in the process grows as a super-hero and individual. I found that I related to her and her human companions more and more as the story progressed.
It's possibly a pity that the story ends back where it starts, as this seems to preclude WW's further involvement in ("Justice League" business in) the human world. If there is a sequel, I'll certainly like to listen to it. The reader/performer did a nice job, too, nailing the different characters rather well.
