Summary

Lauren

At the request of Melissa and Eden, I reluctantly attend Temple Bar, the lone lesbian establishment in the desolate City of Detroit. It's not my style to be set up with anyone; after all, I'm single for a reason. My rough edges and demanding nature have scared away potential partners in the past, leaving me with nothing but meaningless flings. But I've made peace with it. I know I'm not exactly the ideal lover - a masculine lesbian, running my own auto repair shop inherited from my father. Cars are my passion, and I value honesty and quality service above all else. Unfortunately, I'm also uncouth, a bit messy, and overall too much to handle for most. And when I'm attracted to someone, I can be obsessive and overbearing.

But then Samantha walks into my life and everything changes. She sees me as more than just a rough mechanic; she treats me like a person worthy of love and affection. For once, someone validates my feelings and takes an interest in my simple hobbies - fixing cars and making them into works of art. Normally, I deal with wrecked cars on a daily basis, but ever since meeting Samantha, she's been the one causing chaos in my heart. She's wrecking me.

Samantha

Reluctantly, I agreed to meet this woman named 'Lauren' in Temple Bar at Melissa's insistence. Dating was the last thing on my mind right now, especially since I was living out of my car. But Melissa was unaware of that fact. Meeting Lauren stirred something inside of me, like a moth drawn to a flame. The chemistry between us was intense and overwhelming, causing me to flee in fear. As fate would have it, my car broke down on Lauren's street while I searched for a place to park for the night. She came to my rescue and swept me off my feet. Despite her domineering nature and foul mouth, there was a captivating beauty within her that I couldn't ignore. Her passion for cars caught my attention and as I showed interest in her dreams, she revealed a vulnerable side of herself that she kept hidden from the world. It only made her more alluring to me. But as much as I wanted to be with this woman who shared my love for cars, I knew deep down that I couldn't give her the love she deserved. I was broken and no one deserves to be with someone like me. However, Lauren wasn't taking no for an answer. She declared that she was keeping me, forever.
