    Episode 65: Sleep Paralysis

In this episode, Lisa and I give our opinions of Sleep Paralysis.

Many people have or will experience sleep paralysis at some point in their life.

The neurotransmitters gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glycine paralysis the body during REM sleep by 'switching off the cells in the brain that allow your muscles fire.

These episodes last anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes, but to you, it may feel much longer.

All though sleep paralysis is not dangerous or a serious condition, you should investigate what may be the root cause, if the episodes are frequent, seek treatment.

Some of the main causes of sleep paralysis,

    • Lack of sleep.
    • Change in Sleep schedule.
    • Mental conditions like stress or bipolar disorder.
    • Sleeping on the back.
    • Narcolepsy.
    • ADHD medications.
    • Drugs or substance abuse.

BUT!!! In some cultures, and with Paranormal enthusiasts, there must be a more sinister cause of sleep paralysis.

Some believe that it’s a witch or demon sitting on you holding you down while you’re sleeping.

Some even think they have been abducted by aliens.
