About this listen

Are you ready to courageously follow your own sense of mercy, justice, and truth? Are you searching for religious teachings that make sense? Are you having a hard time accepting teachings which seem spiritually unholy and untruthful? Then, have we got a show for you! The Cosmic Citizen is a show for progressive religionists and spiritual people who are ready to find a spirituality worthy of an age of science and enlightenment. Our hosts, Paula Thompson, Andre Radatus , Chuck Thurston, Pamela Chaddock, and Marvin Gawryn are ministers, students and scholars of The Urantia Book, all with at least four decades of experience with it. We sometimes interview guests on topics related to modern and progressive spirituality, but most often we explore The Urantia Book together on air. We embrace diversity, civil and intelligent dialogue, and a willingness to serve a purpose that is true, beautiful and good. Please join us!Copyright Paula Thompson Spirituality

  • Urantia Paper 15—The Seven Superuniverses—§4. The Ancestor of Universes
    Jun 23 2025
In this episode of The Cosmic Citizen we continued our study of Urantia Paper 15, The Seven Super Universes, and focused on Section 4: Nebulae—The Ancestors of Universes.

This section offers a fascinating glimpse into the cosmic mechanics behind universe formation, blending spiritual insight with astrophysics. It’s more than timely, given what the James Webb Telescope is revealing to the world daily.

This section explains that creation and universe organization are ultimately governed by the Universal Father and his creative associates. They unfold via a structured and law-abiding technique. It begins with the mysterious “force-charge of space,” which originates from Paradise. It is the primordial ancestor of all materialization.

Paradise force organizers play a pivotal role in transforming space potency into primordial force, which evolves into primary and secondary energy forms. When these energies become responsive to gravity, they are shaped into the physical circuits and energy channels that support universe structure.

Nebulae are referred to as the great “mother wheels” of creation. They are vast energy cyclones that eventually give birth to suns, planets, and entire systems. Nebulae vary widely in size and output, and their formation marks the beginning of universe evolution.

    Enjoy!

  • Urantia Paper 15—The Seven Super Universes—§3. The Superuniverse of Orvonton
    Jun 10 2025
On this episode of The Cosmic Citizen, we continue our study of Urantia Paper 15, The Seven Super Universes, by focusing on Section 3 – The Superuniverse of Orvonton.

Our superuniverse, Orvonton, is the seventh grand division of the grand universe. Most of the starry realms visible from Earth belong to Orvonton and the vast Milky Way starry system represents its central nucleus.

Orvonton consists of suns, dark islands of space, double stars, globular clusters, star clouds, spiral nebulae, and countless planets. And the spheres of Orvonton are traveling in a vast elongated plane, the breadth being far greater than the thickness and the length far greater than the breadth.

The section also discusses the ten major divisions of Orvonton, eight of which have been roughly identified by astronomers on Earth, while the remaining two are harder to distinguish from our internal vantage point.

The rotational center of Orvonton’s minor sector is located in the dense star cloud of Sagittarius, around which our local universe and its associated creations revolve.

The Andronover nebula, which played a role in the formation of Earth's solar system, is also mentioned.

We hope you enjoy another cosmic conversation on The Urantia Book!

  • Urantia Paper 15—The Seven Super Universes—§2. Organization of the Superuniverses
    Jun 2 2025
On this episode of The Cosmic Citizen, we continued our study of Urantia Paper 15, The Seven Superuniverses, with a reading of reading Section 2: Organization of the Superuniverses.

Paper 15 explores the vast cosmic structure surrounding the central universe of Havona, describing how the seven superuniverses move in an orderly counterclockwise procession around the Central Isle of Paradise, forming a grand cosmic wheel with Paradise at its hub.

This week's study contains the basic cosmology of The Urantia Book, revealing the hierarchical structure of the superuniverses. It shows the structure of the cosmos as consisting of progressively larger administrative units:
Local Systems – Each local system contains approximately 1,000 inhabitable worlds.
Constellations – Each constellation is made up of 100 local systems or about 100,000 inhabitable planets.
Local Universes – Each local universe holds 100 constellations or approximately 10 million inhabitable planets. (Our local universe, Nebadon, belongs to the seventh superuniverse, Orvonton.)
Minor Sectors – Each minor sector consists of 100 local universes and about 1 billion inhabitable planets.
Major Sectors – Each major sector contains 100 minor sectors and about 100 billion inhabitable worlds.
Superuniverses – Each of the seven superuniverses is composed of ten major sectors, and approximately 1 trillion inhabitable worlds.
The Grand Universe – Seven superuniverses make up the present organized grand universe, consisting of approximately seven trillion inhabitable worlds, plus the architectural spheres and the one billion inhabited spheres of Havona.

We hope you enjoy this fascinating study from The Urantia Book.
