Denzil Meyrick, ex-police officer and celebrated author of the best-selling DCI Daley series, joins us to discuss the release of his new and highly anticipated sixth instalment, entitled The Relentless Tide: A DCI Daley Thriller. Returning to the wonderfully dark world of Kinloch, the audiobook opens with the discovery of three female corpses which lead to the arrival of the Scottish Police’s Cold Case Unit and a race against time for Detective Daley. In this interview, we talk to Denzil about his protagonist, the evolution of the series and how he began writing.

Joining us in the studio to talk about his latest book, Rebel Ideas, is British table tennis Olympian, author, journalist and broadcaster Matthew Syed. Known for being the ping-pong guy from popular sports podcast Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy, Matthew Syed started his career as a table tennis player, competing in two Olympic games, and was ranked as a top player in England for 10 years. Since then, Matthew moved on to a career in journalism, writing a column in The Times and broadcasting on the BBC and Eurosport.

Miller played the lead role in Death in Paradise before leaving to spend more time with his family. Beyond television, Miller has acted in films such as Johnny English (2003) and its sequel, Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism (2014), and on stage in The Ladykillers (2011) and The Duck House. His directorial debut was the film Huge. We'll be chatting to Ben Miller about his book The Boy Who Made the World Disappear, his partnership with Alexander Armstrong and what he would put into a black hole.

Rising to fame as a pop star as part of The Communards, Richard Coles has had a very varied career - he has worked as a vicar for several parishes after finding religion later in life, has appeared on many panel shows. He shared his life through his memoirs, including details of his civil partnership and grief following the death of his partner. Coles has begun writing fiction – the Canon Clement Mystery series – starting with Murder Before Evensong, and is with us to talk about the second in the series, A Death in the Parish.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about his narration of the classic Charles Dickens novel Martin Chuzzlewit is lauded British actor and stage director Derek Jacobi. We will be asking how Horowitz how he decides when he’s got a good idea, what the move from children’s to adult’s fiction was like, and why he chose to write a series with himself as a character.

David Suchet, veteran actor best-known for his iconic portrayal of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, joins us to discuss the release of his new audio series, David Suchet's Questions of Faith. Exploring the differences which divide and the similarities which unite the three Abrahamic religions, David talks to prominent figures within the Jewish, Christian and Islamic communities, searching for answers to the devastating wars that have been waged against one another. Joining us at Audible Studios is former SAS sergeant Chris Ryan. Ryan enrolled in the British Army at the age of 16, where he then passed selection to join the 22 SAS Regiment under ‘B’ squadron. Ryan spent the next seven years of his life serving around the world on covert and overt operations. Ryan was a key member of the infamous Bravo Two Zero SAS patrol in Iraq during the Gulf War. The patrol was compromised and was forced to head towards Syria on foot. Ryan was the only one of the eight-man team to not be captured or killed.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Esme Young, English fashion designer and judge on the BBC's The Great British Sewing Bee. Beginning her career in the 1970s, Young established her brand 'Swanky Modes', opening a shop in Camden Town. Her designs were sought after, and appeared in ID and Nova. She has also designed costumes for films such as Bridget Jones's Diary and Trainspotting, including the iconic bunny outfit for Renée Zellweger. Esme Young has now written Behind the Seams, her memoir looking back over her life and time in fashion.
