Torin has achieved a great deal and built his personal strength and that of his faction, the Shattered Storm, to heights few on Earth can match. Unfortunately for him, his greatest challengers do not hail from Earth. Mercenaries from all over the Darkwyrlds have made landfall on the planet to destroy Torin's home and take his head back to the Dominarius Consortium.

Daxas has established his dungeon in the Proving Grounds and incorporated two more into his sphere of influence. But his expansion and rule-breaking doesn't end there. His successes have been impressive, but thus far, he has been competing against the other minnows in the Proving Grounds. Other, grander forces, have taken notice and the interfering Divine Lords continue in their campaign to see Daxas destroyed. Daxas will have to think bigger, fighter harder, and cheat in ever more inventive ways if he and his growing pool of desirable disciples are to emerge victorious.

Dave Smith is having a bad day, week, month, maybe even year. Freshly unemployed, facing eviction, and now he's been transported to a fantasy world. With a base of operations, it's time to start building his crew. He needs to return to the mainland and start emptying the prisons. Those who can be trusted will be signed to his canon. There are other uses for those who can't.

An experimental ASI with a terminal case of curiosity reached out and tampered with the universe in a way that it should not have, and unleashed a torrent of energy we would call magic into our galaxy. Humans, and every other intelligent lifeform for that matter, were ill-prepared, physically and mentally, for such an eventuality. The novel's protagonist is Sambu, a not-very-intelligent bank clerk in middle age, who solves difficult crime puzzles out of serendipity but is quick to explain as well as take credit. Sambu's character is sometimes considered to be a comical version of Sherlock Holmes.

Daxas has reached rank eight. He has conquered and subsumed a second dungeon increasing his power and pulled one over the Divine Lords in the process. However, he is aware this will bring new difficulties to his door and the Divine Lords are unlikely to take their humiliation well.

Torin has seen off several threats against him and his burgeoning faction the Shattered Storm. However, time is ticking down on the primary quest from his patron, the Shattered Goddess. He promised to utterly destroy Luca Gattosi before a year had passed. Months have gone by and he is no closer to taking his rival down. In fact, the opposite is true. Luca has only grown stronger. The window of opportunity to act is getting smaller with every day. But things are not so simple that Torin can switch his focus whenever he wishes.

Torin has been victorious against his self-proclaimed arch-enemy Luca Gattosi. The Brotherhood of the Lion's Claw has fallen. All of their territory had been absorbed into the Shattered Storm's growing empire. This has not come without a cost. Torin is suffering from a prolonged debuff that endangers his life and he has put his trust in the young Jackson to act on his behalf and further the Shattered Storm's ends in Pandaemonium.

Daxas has survived his first few weeks as a Dungeon. He has successfully discovered several exploits in the system and has been thriving. He is advancing to the second rank, fought off an invasion of orcs and goblins, and, most importantly, now has a lovely wood elf companion named Jessamyn. However, success brings new challenges and new, more powerful challengers. It's time for the Wolf King to expand his dungeon, cut down any who dare oppose him, and add to his harem of mates. Meanwhile, the Divine Lords are plotting in the background, trying to engineer his downfall.

There are others in the Proving Grounds, like the Silver Lady, Jezebel. She had her own plans, which don't align with Daxas'. Not to mention that the threat from without is undiminished. Timian, and others, are still gunning hard for Daxas. They want what he has, an abundance of soul energy, and the Wolf King must die for them to get their grubby little mitts on it.

Daxas' trials continue. He has defeated those with the temerity to face him and claimed the dark elf Dungeon Mistress Jen'Zadeer Shadestar for his own. His guild, the Dark Moon Rising, continues to flourish despite its figurehead Chief Simeon Reedwhistle's reservations.
