Lilly is a young child when she helps her first ghost. Turns out, she’s a necromancer. And there’s only one place for a kid like her: the Academy. From the first carriage ride, Lilly’s life changes. Lilly is finished with school and all grown up. She takes an internship with the Capital City Watch, the first step in making her dream job a reality. But her new boss isn’t a fan, and there’s definitely something fishy about him, as well! Even if she makes it past him, there are more dangers waiting around the corner. Demon-worshipping cults and cursed neighbors are just the beginning. But when an old acquaintance turns up, looking for help against a bitter enemy, Lilly’s life really takes a turn for the worse.

Add in an overly large orc who won't leave him alone, and it's all Duke can do to survive, let alone retrieve a magic item. Will it be worth it in the end?

Duke's life has changed a lot over the last year. He's still the number one Nuisance Man in Capital City, but now, only chases down those whose guilt has been proven. A new attitude that doesn't always sit well with the other Nuisance Men, or the old guard of the Watch. He's firmly tied to the beautiful and deadly necromancer Lilly, who, as it turns out, comes from a fabulously rich family. Oh, and someone is out to get him.
