The One State is the perfect society, ruled over by the enlightened Benefactor. Faerie is helping her, giving her the tools to survive, but it also hinders and pushes her harder than she ever thought possible. But as she is, she is not strong enough. Her circle is not complete. And until it is, her bid for the throne is still miles away.

Surviving the attack on the Sithen, Verity, Prince Aziz, and both their guards are shaken and on high alert. So when an emissary from High Court comes to invite Princess Verity to the monarchy competition weeks ahead of schedule, Verity knows that her timetable has been accelerated, and there isn’t much that she can do. But her guard, allies, and ladies-in-waiting are ready, and they will not let House Salim have a poor showing at court.

All families have secrets but the facts requiring secrecy change with time. Nowadays a lesbian partnership, a "bastard" son, or a criminal grandfather might be of little or no consequence but could have unraveled a family at an earlier moment in history. Margaret K. Nelson is interested in how families keep secrets from each other and from outsiders when to do otherwise would risk eliciting not only embarrassment or discomfort, but profound shame and, in some cases, danger.

Settled in with her main guard, Verity has been dazzled by Sithen life and the possibilities of what her world could be and will be when she wins the crown, but life is about to throw her some curveballs she never thought possible. Prince of the Lotus Courts, Aziz, is on his way to her Sithen, as well as the Salim household staff that has been scattered to the winds, and of course, the rest of her guard. Knowing this Princess Verity is both ready and excited to receive those that are winging to her aid. But with the sweets, come the sour.

The competition over, Nymea Blut and her guard are back to real life, with a new objective. Queen Verity has decreed that Blutfeuer, Nymea’s family wineries and distilleries, branch out into the human realm, in order to bring more revenue into their new vision of Faerie. Nymea is ready and able, though she is going forward grudgingly. A woman set in her ways, Nymea isn’t interested in humanity or humans, only creating her infusions and living quietly with her rag tag guard. If this will help Faerie, then she is a team player, but opposition is on the horizon.

The final installment of The Blood Court series, has both redemption and heartache. With Nymea kidnapped, Ryker and the guard have to enlist help from the other courts, making finding her a full on operation. And when she is found, the process of healing must begin. Because Mea has lost her fire, and she needs to bond once more to the men that would give their lives for her. In order to save her company, and herself, she needs to take down those that would harm her guard, and her court. Because the Princess of Blood is not someone with whom to mess with.

With Blutfeuer under fire, Nymea’s worries are not unfounded, and she needs to figure out just what Kendarla’s issues and plans are before someone gets hurt...namely someone from her Court. But with her enemies largely quiet, she's afraid of falling into a false sense of security. Nymea and the guys are up to their ears in supposition, and with a new guard in the mix, they all need to find where everyone fits. And as with any new addition, the aftermath of a bonding might prove more interesting than ever before.
