About this listen

What is wrong meets what feels right in this romance set in Italy by the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of Deep End.

Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.

Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.

It's such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother's best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.

But not everything is as it seems - and clichés sometimes become plot twists.

When Maya's brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs - even if it's a problematic one.

It's officially Problematic Summer

Ali Hazelwood is the best. She just keeps delivering the best stories.
The male narrator wasn’t good for the MM character but wasn’t the greatest at the supporting male characters voices but the great story prevented that minor issue from spoiling the experience.

Love it

This book surprised me. I loved The LOVE Hypothesis but every AH book after that fell short for me. This book had me hooked from the very start. Partially, but not only because of the colourful, whitty female narrator. I love slow burn, where you clearly see the human connection between the main characters. This fit the bill. I will read it again.

heartwarming story

This is a Ali classic and if you liked the ones before you’ll love this. It has a beautiful setting and lots of spice. I did loss my patience with Conor part way through but the dude pulled it back.

I love it

Loved the story but the Scottish and Irish accents were painful to listen to. A real shame when the narrators were good when speaking as Maya and Connor!

5 star story but the narration fell short

A solid story but it's clear that Ali Hazelwood has never met an Irish man and the narrators do their best but end up sounding like Gerald Butler's accent in PS I Love You

I absolutely ate this up, I love that I did this book all in audio as I loveddddd Conor’s voice! I didn’t enjoy when the Scottish accent was done as it didn’t sound the best🤣 but everything else was great!

Loved this!!

I listened to this book in 1 day, literally couldn't stop listening. So funny, the dialogue is whip smart, realistic and such a joy. Maya is by far my favourite of Ali's characters, she's so well written. Her struggles with anger are relatable and brutally honest. It was super refreshing and suprising to hear this emotional struggle being described, its something I can relate to and I've never come across this in any of the books I've listened to. Her strength in knowing herself and communicating that with Connor was funny and sharp and at times so sad! Honeylt I loved it....plus it was hot as!!!!

superb, funny and irresistible

This book was slow for me to get in to, But then something shifted and I enjoyed the book so much. The narration is sensational and the dual narration Ali provides is always so appreciated and enjoyed.

10/10 narration

The narrators were fabulous. The story was so so, but it could be that I have a hard time with age gap. Nothing really happened, age gap was only ”issue” facing them…love the author, always an auto-purchase, but this was not my favorite 😢

Top tier narration

This was actually much sweeter than I expected - a very slow burn - in a good way. Hit all the right emotional notes. Maya is wonderfully outspoken and doesn't let anything slide with stubborn Conner, which is amazing - so much sass and banter. I also love that it's written as being very self aware and handled the age gap really well imo. It was very front and centre and talked about ALOT.

So self aware and well written
