Summary
The magnificent sequel to Hank Green's number one New York Times best-selling debut novel, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing
The statues disappeared in an instant. While they were on Earth, they caused confusion and destruction without ever lifting a finger. They also contributed to the untimely death of April May: a young woman who stumbled into their path, naming them the Carls and gaining viral fame in an avalanche of conspiracy theories.
When April's friends try to carry on with their lives, a series of clues arrive - mysterious books that seem to predict the future - and which also seem to suggest April may be very much alive...But there's a bigger mystery to solve.
Did the Carls ever really leave us, and what happens if they're here to stay?
A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor is a bold and brilliant conclusion that asks whether anyone has the right to change the world.

Great narration, not as good as book one
I love the whole Carls duology but when an author unveils the mysteries of an alien being its always hard not to feel a bit let down, regardless of the explanation given.
I loved the multiple points of view for this book, and the interweaving plot lines, but some of the narrative was slow paced and boring, while other parts were really exciting - the balance was a little off.
I'd still really recommend it, and especially the audiobook version as it's so well put together and the character voices seem pretty spot on. You might benefit from reading the actual book alongside though as I felt I missed bits when there were some info dumps.
3.5/5 stars overall!

A great sequel
Having just listened to An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, the first book, this lived up to expectations. It was a pleasure to listen to and was hard to put down.
The ending left me feeling a bit flat but this is a minor niggle and overall I thought it was excellent.

Such a beautiful book
Made sneaking my earpods into work 100% worth it! The narration was wonderful, I loved the different narrators. I enjoyed the plot and themes, it was my first foray into modern science fiction and I'm already on the search for more. Thank you Hank Green and all the brilliant narrators!

Thoughtful and compelling
A meaningful continuation of the original story, that I’m shocked I needed. I felt like the first book did itself justice, without the need for a second part but now I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
Thank you Hank Green, for changing my mind.

HANK GREEN SUCKS
Hank Green has the audacity to write incredibly compelling human studies wrapped up in an exhaustively developed, intriguing soft sci-fi narrative.
This book has made me contemplate worth and value in life (ain't nobody got time for that)
And is a fantastic manifesto for creators and those hopeful for the future of the human condition. I am appalled that he isn't thinking about how busy and important we all are, and challenges our well worn routines and addictions to social media and Internet content.
In all seriousness, please write more. Absolutely loved these books and Hank Greens' voice (and others like him) are needed far more in the coming years/decades.

This is awesome
I love this book! And thr first one in this series. It’s excellently narrated, has an intriguing plot, and is just impossible to turn off….which is ironically considering the book’s underlying message. Anyways, this book is thought-provoking in a way I haven’t experienced with a book in a long time. Please read it.
