Summary
Critic reviews
"Not only is Patrick Stewart wonderful, but this is surely one of the best performances of A Christmas Carol ever recorded....By sheer energy and dramatic skill, Stewart invests this story with not merely life, but freshness, excitement, and wonder." ( The Washington Post)
"A low tech audio Christmas card: no sound effects, no gimmicks, just one of the the great voices of the contemporary classical stage creating as vivid a cast of characters as Dickens imagines. The Royal Shakespeare Company veteran...doesn't so much read the story as inhabit it with infectious delight." ( Entertainment Weekly)

A timeless classic
A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens is story that has spanned the ages and loved by millions across the world a story of hope and redemption which is as apt today as it was then. This adaptation is read by Sir Patrick Stewart and in my opinion the best of all versions, he puts his heart and soul into the reading and it shows. Absolutely brilliant and I would wholeheartedly recommend this to everyone who loves this timeless classic.

I wish Patrick would do more of these.
The storyline is naturally, and always, a classic. We all know it, and have seen it countless times, in countless forms.
But Patrick really makes the book come alive, he is an excellent narrator, and makes for a very enjoyable experience.

A sterling performance!
Having seen Sir Patrick perform this as a one man show many years ago, I had high expectations. I was not disappointed. He attacks every character - old man, woman, children, and ghosts alike - with gusto. And he sings - which made me giggle, reminding me simultaneously of his singing in Star Trek, and the delightfully bad singing by some of the characters in A Muppet's Christmas Carol (which is remarkably close to the book and a great watch if you haven't seen it. No, it's not just for kids!).
.
For anyone who doesn't enjoy reading, you'll be thrilled by this rendition - sometimes a little overzealous but with every word as clear and sharp as cut glass. Nobody would need subtitles for this performance, that's for sure (and it is most assuredly a 'performance' and not mere narration).
Worth every penny - and I NEVER say that about Audible purchases!
