Summary

Running out on your wedding day never goes down well. When the pressure of her forthcoming marriage becomes too much, Jude bolts from the church, leaving a good man at the altar, her mother in a fury, and the guests with enough gossip to last a year.

Guilty and ashamed, Jude flees to Pengarrock, a crumbling cliff-top mansion in Cornwall, where she takes a job cataloguing the Trevillion family's extensive library. The house is a welcome escape for Jude, full of history and secrets, but when its new owner arrives, it's clear that Pengarrock is not beloved by everyone.

As Jude falls under the spell of the house, she learns of a family riddle stemming from a terrible tragedy centuries before, hinting at a lost treasure. And when Pengarrock is put up for sale, it seems that time is running out for the house and for Jude.

Story for a Cosy Winter's Day

Solid plot amd interesting story worth the right balance of narrative, dialogue and inner voice read by a professional. I was not disappointed and want to listen frequently.

Easy Listening

Pleasant story a bit predictable .
American accent grated at first but did get used to it- didn't like the men's voices not at all sexy just gruff.
Expensive for £13.99 would have liked a bit more substance for that price.

An enjoyable listen but....

I enjoyed this book but I have to say I found it a little predictable which made it slightly boring. I did however finish listening to it shows I did enjoy it.

A few twists and turns in the story, but a few of them didn't add much to the story as a whole.

Wouldn't recommend it as THE BEST BOOK EVER! But if u fancy some easy listening well give it a go.

Best Narration

Would you listen to A Cornish Affair again? Why?

I don't tend to re-listen, but that is not because I didn't enjoy it. The story was a little slow at times, but I enjoyed the narration immensely. I'm writing the review because I think the narrator needs to be recognised.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character - Jude. We've all been there... Trying to live up to the impossible expectations of others and then breaking out. Fabulous.

What does Penelope Freeman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I am writing this review because I think that brilliant narration needs to be recognised. Her characterisations and different voices and accents were superlative.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

I will be looking for more stories narrated by Penelope Freeman
