About this listen

In the usually peaceful town of Eastvale, a simmering tension has now reached breaking point. An anti-nuclear demonstration has ended in violence, leaving one policeman stabbed to death. Fired by professional outrage, Superintendent "Dirty Dick" Burgess descends with vengeful fury on the inhabitants of "Maggie's Farm", an isolated house high on the daleside.

Inspector Alan Banks is uneasy about Burgess' handling of the investigation. But he has been warned off the case. Soon Banks realizes that the only way he can salvage his career is by beating Burgess to the killer.

I've read quite a few Peter Robinson novels (not this one) and think that this abridged version, compared with the books, gets all the basics of the story without loss of the threads of evidence. I would guess that its more of the side issues to do with Inspector Bank' family life that have been edited out. I enjoyed the story and thought that Neal Pearson, the reader, was outstandingly good.

Good story very well read
