The storyline was touching and the lead up to happily ever after was romantic, but the early execution was clumsy and a tad silly. How could Gabriel fail to identify Alathea as the countess when he knew no other woman of similar height, despite getting close and intimate?
The final scenes where the baddie gets his comeuppance were also poorly written and rather rushed.
Still a riveting instalment of the Cynster stories and I would still recommend to those who enjoy period romance.
