The story

Censured at the Council of Nikea for his flagrant use of sorcery, Magnus the Red and his Thousand Sons Legion retreat to their homeworld of Prospero to continue their use of the arcane arts in secret. When the ill-fated primarch foresees the treachery of Warmaster Horus and warns the Emperor with the very powers he was forbidden to use, the Master of Mankind dispatches fellow primarch Leman Russ to attack Prospero itself. But Magnus has seen more than the betrayal of Horus – and the witnessed revelations will change the fate of his fallen Legion, and its primarch, forever.

Amazing story really pulls you in with emotion. Not just a hammer and bolter fest though the action is good, the story line as a whole it compelling. The narration is off in small bits but overall pretty good

Loved it, one of the best so far - early on I wasn't the biggest fan of the narrator but by the end I have to admit my mind was changed.

the narration was dreadful. it seemed like he was trying to get through it as quickly as humanly possible. his tone never changed and the way he read it made it seem like he had never read a book before. a great story, ruined by poor narration, in my opinion.

The story was excellent, particularly the last 4 or 5 hours and the first 3 or 4.

the performance was good, and I particularly liked Ahriman, Magnus and Lemule's voices, but it just felt the countenance was a little fast. I understand that the book is v. long but there were a few times I felt where a dramatic pause could have really made an impact.

not much criticism though, still very good.

Being a 40k gamer in my youth I new of the Thousand Sons, this book tells the sad story of their fall from grace really well.

An absolute masterpiece. A truely heartbreaking tale of the fate and fall of the thousand sons. I have read and listening to this book countless times and it has yet to loose its impact.
A must read for all 40k/30k fans. 10/10

the thousand sons are the seekers of the esoteric, where most legions wall themselves in arrogance the sons of Magnus seek understanding, and in the 30th millennia, that's a dangerous game.
