Summary

In all the games Matt has played, dungeons are places to raid, places you dream of conquering, but when the world is stripped of electricity, and the first mana-twisted beasts start to prowl, the games all come to an end....

Matt's just an ordinary guy, but when he's beaten, robbed, and left for dead, bleeding out at the bottom of a gully, it all has to change as he grasps frantically at his only chance for survival, coming as it does in the form of a glowing, dangerously pulsing light.

With his reality forever altered, Matt must quickly find a suitable place to deploy the Dungeon Core, fighting his way through the hundreds of people between him and safety, because if he doesn't do it soon, a Core Detonation will solve all of his problems for him....permanently.

Welcome to the New World.

A fun read!

The beginning of the book, the first hour or so, was greatly enjoyable and I loved the characterization of the characters! The book was an interesting twist on the dungeon core trope and the story overall was good. However, there was what felt like an abrupt shift in Matt's personality after the initial part of the book and, though there was some sense to it, it felt a bit disorienting - seeing as he went full murderhobo after essentially having been an average dude just days prior. Trauma can cause people to have sudden changes in personality, yes, but the shift of the main character's personality felt, in some ways, too great and perhaps should have been more gradual and fleshed out, to make the change feel more realistic. Anyhow, the book was a fun read/listen and I do look forward to the next one in the series! Additionally, the performance of the voice actor added to the enjoyment of the book and was a great choice. Amazing performance and an enjoyable book!

Hard core LITRPG adventure of the best kind

Action, adventure, humour.. would have been nice .. and this book delivers, this is the whole package including the bucket and spade.
The narrator - Neil is spot on, with just the right tone and inflection.
Spoiler alert - world goes to hell in a hand basket, so the MC does the best he can after bonding with a dungeon - with a little help.. eventually.

Great listen.

Pretty refreshing to have a MC that actually solves his problems instead of the usual dithering. Also the fact that he actually 'has' problems and isn't handed everything on a platter.

Slightly insulted about the Tomato crisps, but I'll get over it.

As always, Neil did a fantastic job with narration.

A pleasant surprise.

I jumped into this with no explanation; no idea what to expect at all. I am tremendously glad I gave it a chance. I'm rushing to jump right in to the next one.

Good Story, MC so so, other characters are idiots

I like the Story, it really passes the time and is okay. The MC always says he tries to be a good person. Until he is not.... really, I do unterstand that the Issue with System Apocalypse Books is that it always boils down to more or less who is able to do what needs to be done to protect the innocent. But the MC seems not to fit that role. Overpowered? Nah, Powerful, yes. But he always gets captured. While twice I would agree, I did not understand why they would do it a third time. And his human Party consists of a self centered family I would have kicked out of the Dungeon soon after they moved in. No fun to read the interactions with the ungrateful Idiots at all, it really annoys me.

And additional there are a lot of Guns, Guns, a bit of Magic and.... Guns.

It has so much Potential, really good performance and I liked it. And I want to like it more, but the second part, for it could develop in one of the best Stories there is. But I am afraid to pick up the next book and have more of the same. Still on the fence if I continue.

Funish

I did like it quit a bit. Only drawback is the MC some times... Anger issues and no willpower when it comes to his privet parts.

Just brilliant!

if you've ever enjoyed RPG title like fallout or even red alert, you'll love this!

The combination of Jez's vivid and descriptive writing. Great story line, the rest of the series I've flown through. Paired with Neil's narration - this is a series that I never want to end!

Great start and middle, last 2 hours.. hmm.

I really enjoyed 3/4 of this book, really cool concept and delivery for the most part, well paced and delivered by the narrator.

My issue is that in the last two hours of the book the main character turns into a bit of a d**k. so much so that I nearly didn't make it through. idk if I'll continue the series.
