Summary

When you steal a hundred grand from some very bad people, the best way to survive is to stay small and quiet...

Possibly it's not to save a pair of drowning girls, not go 'viral' on social media and certainly not to let the local police take your passport, trapping you on a small 'party' island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.

But Steve isn't the average guy, he's ex-military, ex-enforcer and ex-human. He's a one man nanite fuelled nightmare for those that cross the line, and he's decided that its time to clean up his act. He's going to make up for the things he's done, and save 'the little guys'.

It's a nice fantasy, but even he has to admit, it's really just a justification, because he's a very bad man, with horrifying abilities, and he's only just learning what he's capable of. He needs a reason to not go to the dark, and if that's hunting down the creatures of the night and beating them to death with their own femurs: well, he's just the man for the job.

Stolen money. Greek Islands. Werewolves and Enforcers...what could possibly go wrong?

great story in general but

really liked the first half of the story and was all really great.
i feel as though it went off track and turned into a bit of a romance novel as soon as ingrid was introduced.
still a good story but i personally like the gamelit style of story and dont particularly care for the romance stuff especially when it overtakes the main story line.
i will continue to listen to the second book and just really hope it gets back on track and doesnt just continue as a love story with other bits.

Not a Cozy Fantasy

Dark, brutal, unrelenting, dark, violent, atmospherically claustrophobic and dark, did I mention dark. But with an MC who is full of empathy, humanity and love. Set in the Greek islands and so allowing access to Greek myth and gods, this is a fantastic and unique Litrpg story set in the real world, all be it a world with vampires and werewolves. A wonderful, exciting and totally enthralling story that can only go one way, darker. Threet and Boucher are as usual a fantastic team.

Perfect!

Absolutely adored this! Love the concept, the story is spot on and a pretty logical creation which works well with history.

The narrator is great (although it's very sad that they're not British to fit the mc).

I even enjoyed the mc being slightly less than likeable, in that they are a bit of a mild male chauvinist and prone to being violent, it basically works with the story and I cannot wait for the next one...

Be warned, this book only lasted me two days as it is highly difficult to put down and stop listening.

Pure entertainment

This is not a very sophisticated book or very emersive.
It is however very entertaining, it's basically a what if you mixed a generic rpg-game with reality, kind of story.
Everything you want to happen, story wise, happens.
It's emotional where you want it to be and gory where you want it to, it does however have a pretty crappy view on women in general, so considered this a varning.
Overall a very entertaining book and I look forward to hearing the sequels.

An entertaining twist on Legend

a very entertaining book, I look forward to the next chapter, my only comment is that the main character comes from London and the narrator has an American accent!!
