About this listen

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien adventure. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise. But it is actually a dark, dangerous world.

Good telling of s disappointing prequel

As with any novelisation, the added details and characters inner thoughts help flesh out the story.

Absorbing and satisfying

The best audiobook I have listened to so far, it was the first time an audiobook has gripped me as completely as a physical book. I found myself squeezing listening sessions everywhere I could throughout the few days it took me to finish it. The only slight niggle I had was the almost falsetto affectation of the reader for some of the characters- I felt it wasn't necessary. But this is not picking. Overall a great listen for any fan of the Alien world.

Quite Enjoyable

This was a good written story of the movie, I did feel that it built the tension better and as always the written word gets you into the head of the characters much better.

Overall the narration was very good, my only criticism would be of the voices of somebody the women. Mainly when they were excited, they sounded off and I foind that distracting.

Alien Covenant better than the film brilliant narration

Not many left to listen to now. Tom Taylorson brings the characters to life. Much better book than the film

Totally recommend this

I only docked a point for when the narrator was conveying shouting or screaming…. In saying that, shouting or screaming is hard to do well in an audiobook. Otherwise the narrator is great.

As with other Alien novelisations, this book fleshes out the story a little bit. Especially right at the end, it adds one bit of dialogue not in the movie which has me perplexed about if there is another movie, would it fit that last piece of dialogue.

But if your an Alien fan, definitely pick this up.

Great addition to the lore

The story started to unfold a bit too slowly for my taste, and no matter how I looked at it, I can't say that it served to build a great atmosphere. Nevertheless, once we got to the planet, it really started to feel like a true, creepy alien novel and I soon forgot the boring parts. From that point onwards I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook, Tom Taylorson's performance was great too. I haven't seen the movie yet, but the book's just whet my appetite for it :D I can only recommend it.

The Perfect Companion

Having been slightly disappointed by the rushed feel of the movie which seemed purely driven by visceral delights this brilliantly narrated and written audio book reedresses the balance to show just how brilliant the film might have been. I would highly recommend the audio book as the perfect companion. I would also add that it stands tall on its own merits. In short - Brilliant!

An Improvement on the Film!

I really enjoyed this book which was superbly performed by Tom Taylorson. The film was something of a disappointment, but this version fleshes out the story more so that some, not all, elements are improved upon and make more sense.
