About this listen

The official prequel leading into the upcoming Aliens cooperative third-person survival shooter video game, Aliens: Fireteam, from Cold Iron Studios.

Dr. Timothy Hoenikker arrives on Pala Station, a Weyland-Yutani facility. Lured there by the promise of alien artifacts, instead he finds a warped bureaucracy and staff of misfits testing the effects of Xenomorph bio-materials on living creatures. Unbeknownst to the personnel, however, there is an infiltrator among them whose actions could spell disaster.

Also on staff is Victor Rawlings, a former marine who gathers together other veterans to prepare for the worst. As the personnel receive a delivery of alien eggs, the experiments spin out of control, and only the former Colonial Marines can stand between the humans and certain death.

Great pre-qual for the game Aliens Fireteam Elite!

Wish I had listened to this before playing the game. A great story and addition the ALIEN lore.

Brilliant performance, ok story

The narration was excellent, not as good of a job as was done in alien phalanx but still excellent.

The story was a VERY slow build up to everything crammed in ad rushed for the last hour or so. It wasn't bad, just not much alien.

needs a second part!

The story leaves it open, this is due to it laying the foundations for a new game. I hope in time, as what happened with Alien isolation, a story based on the game will happen.

Aliens!

I love the story, I've always been a alien fan and always have been fascinated by "The Company" and it's motives, especially how far it willing to go,this story ties it I'm really well, would be good to see a chapter of the Alien universe where Weyland Yutani are served justice!

Worn out formula, sorry ….

just for once it would be nice to take the Alien saga stories away from colonial marines, scientists and Wetland-Yutami. I think the problem is the saga has so many fixed rules in place - the authors are unable to break out and come up with something creative, in case it ‘breaks canon’. Almost every paragraph seems to have ‘Fuhk you’ growled by one character or another, and this story is virtually the same as most other Aliens audiobooks I’ve heard. An English narrator would put a different spin on the reading, too.

Amazing story, fantastic narration

Xeno's can't help themselves, yet again, and decide they want to eat everyone, 5 stars

I liked it

So I read the mixed results but I liked the book. Don’t usually feel sympathy for the scientists. I liked Brunson Pinchots reading.

The Video game prequel that ridicules gamers.

The narration by Bronson Pinchot is incredible and carries the entire thing. Pinchot also narrates Alien:Phalanx which is a fantastic book which I gave a 5/5

"How does it ridicule gamers?" Well, one character is a gamer, the only gamer in the book, He is lazy, manipulative and only plays video games, he is pale and described an "asexual who spends all of his time playing his fps Colonial marine game." ... Ochse pulls on a dated old negative stereo type for this character, if Ochse think this of their audience why write this book?

There's also the overall story, it has the potential to be a fantastic detective noire set in the Alien universe... instead a crime happens as the audience we see it happen and we spend a long while waiting for the station workers to figure it out while watching a string of obvious events lead to an inevitable conclusion.

Lots of potential but a bit of a dud.

Listen for the narration and to support the franchise but then go listen to Alien: Phalanx which is an incredible adventure.

Not a great example of the series.

First-off, don't blame the narrator, he did the best he could will poor material. The characters are flat, boring and in many cases don't add to the book. You don't get to like any of them. It was interesting to see that Weyland-Yutani has a lab that is making some interesting products but not from the Aliens: from other xenomorphs instead. For instance they've made armour that is acid resistant and are working on it becoming polychromatic camo. It'll come in handy when it all turns to hell when the Aliens show up. Unfortunately there is none of the usual horror used expect. The armour comes not from the Aliens, our usual Xenomorphs (with a big X), but from other xenomorphs with a small x. It would be nice to know where those xenos came from but only as a side plot. I'm glad I read it from the Plus Catalogue because if I had paid for it I'd get a refund.
