About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The first girl came back.
The next might not be so lucky.
A girl is taken from the streets of Oxford. But it's unlike any abduction DI Fawley's seen before....
Faith Appleford was attacked, a plastic bag tied over her head, taken to an isolated location...and then, by some miracle, she escaped.
What's more, when DC Erica Somer interviews Faith, she quickly becomes convinced that Faith knows who her abductor is.
Yet Faith refuses to press charges.
Without more evidence, it's looking like the police may have to drop the case.
But what happens if Faith's attacker strikes again?

Another great book in a brilliant series
I've listened to books 1, 2, 3 and 5 in this series but somehow managed to miss this one. However I am now happy to have rectified that mistake.
This is such a well written series with complex police investigations that get my mind working overtome trying to guess the conclusion. This book is no exception as DI Fawley and his team investigate an attack on a teenage girl, followed by the murder of another teenager. It's fast paced with plenty of twists and I like the way that the author includes snippets of social media/emails etc at the beginning of each chapter though I listened to the book on Audible and found the sound effects slightly irritating.
The book is narrated by Lee Ingleby and Emma Cuniffe, who both do a great job.

The nightmare begins here.
This book is a page turner, corny as it sounds. It reveals a a side of life that is the stuff of nightmares. Well written, excellent narration. And cleverly deceptive. I foreseen the plot four times and yet I was still surprised at the end. Thoroughly enjoyed this book but it’s an eye opener folks. 5 star. Ps. Only criticism. . . Don’t need endless approximation of time.

Fantastic Writer & Narrators!
My headline says it all! I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks, often whilst dressmaking. Today, I had to stop sewing a few times to listen to the intricacies of the plot and the various directions taken - imagine that!!
Many congratulations to all involved 👏

My favourite book of the series
My favourite D.I Adam Fawley book thus far!
Out of the 4 books so far in the series and the stand alone Murder in the Family book, this has been the most captivating book for me personally. You can really resonate with the story, the hatred towards a certain group of characters, how much you may want someone to be in the wrong for how they are portrayed, the poor families affected by such atrocities.
I enjoyed the further development of the usual characters and will be looking forward to seeing more from them.
5/5 I was gripped since the first chapter.

Really good as always
A slightly different vibe to this story, but really enjoyed it as always with Cara Hunter. Knowing Oxford personally adds to the enjoyment, especially when working out the parts that don’t exist! I think the books seem to always be really well researched, so found the cliched comments about the teacher rather surprising. “Home economics or whatever they call it these days” is rather grating as it hasn’t been called this for at least 10 years (except in Scotland). A disparaging comment about a teacher wearing flat shoes seemed at odds with the usual tone of Hunter’s books, so I wonder if she didn’t like her food teacher? After all, flats are currently quite a thing! A shame as this left a rather bad taste for me as I don’t think there is merit in cliched comments except when actually relevant to the plot, which this wasn’t. Still looking forward to seeing how the next book takes the story from where this one ends and would wholeheartedly recommend.

Good read with a twist near the end
I enjoyed hearing this book a little more than reading it. When reading it I got distracted by the letters emails and other forms of communication that constantly appeared. I started to ignore the additional forms of communication when reading it. However, when I listened to it they all made sense because they were read in a different voice and they all became part of the story.
This is the first book by this author I have read and I liked it despite my comments above. I expected a twist at the end but it wasn't what I expected and was a little disappointed.
I will read the next book in the series and this time just listen to it. I think the back story should be interesting to see how it pans out.
Nice read
