About this listen
Anger Management offers "straight to the point" understanding which can be quickly put into practice, helping you to reconnect with your best self!
We can find empathy for people suffering with anxiety or depression, but often, it’s only the victims of anger who receive any sympathy. The perpetrators are written-off as a bad lot. This audiobook will explain how chronic anger is just as much a stress-related “condition” as these other difficulties and why anger sufferers deserve compassion as much as anybody else.
I’ve been helping people professionally resolve their stress-related difficulties since 2003, and I’ve enjoyed working with “angry” people the most. Why? Because they are the least helped among us. I know you didn’t ask to be angry. But it can be overcome.
Using fictional case studies from real-world examples, this audiobook will explore clearly why you may feel so much anger in your being and explain why your subconscious programming is making it impossible for you to “will” yourself calm. With that understood, you’ll find practical, workable approaches here to understand and desensitize your triggers, live more peacefully, enjoy better relationship security, be more patient with the world, and get more of what you need without the stress or regret of anger and rage.
You will learn:
- Why the brain creates angry responses when we feel threatened and what you can do to soothe it
- How to recognize where your personal anger stems from and how to heal it
- Why anger can feel good but become an addiction
- The brain chemistry, so you can understand what you're up against
- Why "controlling" behavior will drive those you love away and how to invite them closer instead
- How to “use” anger appropriately to have people help you instead of resent you
- Why softness controls hardness and how to implement that understanding in your life.
- The incredible power of words, asking for what you need, and why "sorry" is the most powerful word in the English language
- And much, much more

It's inspirational
I had already read this book last year but I found listening to the audio version quite different. I must admit that I've only ever listened to two audio books before and both were novels. This meant that they were read in quite a dramatic way. This book however is read in a calm, factual way which, I have to say, threw me a little bit until I got used to it. After a few pages I realised that this was the only possible way that it could be read. It means you concentrate more on the content than the delivery.
I love the way the author conveys empathy with the angry person. It is so easy to write someone off who has anger issues but digging deep into the reasons for the anger you can understand why people behave this way. I found it absolutely fascinating and it has made me more sympathetic towards angry people, which let's face it, we all are sometimes. There are some examples which make it really easy to see where anger has come from, and then ways to address it.
I would recommend listening to this book as it doesn't just try to give a quick fix for anger management but gets right down to the root causes. The author has an easy style which makes it simple to follow and you can feel that he really cares about people. Well worth a listen.

A wonderful insightful listen
Not being someone who considers they need anger management I began listening to this book more out of intrigue. I was actually quite shocked to realise that I can relate to a lot of the content in this book. I think we all muddle through life, thinking our reactions are considered, thinking we are generally calm, and not truly understanding and appreciating how we really are. This book helps you take a step back and deeply understand yourself, and helps you consider and implement steps to handling daily struggles in a more productive way, helping not only you but all those you come into contact with. I felt quite a colossal shift in my reactions and responses to people within days of listening. I truly feel calmer and better able to handle the little things, and the big things, life throws at you. I can imagine this book being a god-send for those who know they have a genuine problem with anger, but it has also been a wonderful, insightful, life-changing read for me; someone who never thought they had anger issues but now realised maybe they did, just a little bit. I also found listening to this book rather than reading it helped me process the information on a much deeper level, I will definitely be using an audio book of this kind again. Thank you John. Little by little you are making a wonderful difference to us all.

A great book that anwers both why and how question
What I enjoyed most about this book is that it explains very well why one may feel angry. It proved my intuition that simply using your will to avoid being angry does not always work. The other books by John Crawford complement this one very well - I encourage you to read / listen to the "Inner Human" and "Anxiety Relief" books. They cover some of the important aspects of the "Anger Management" book in detail.

This book has saved my life…
Having suffered from anger my entire adult life and experienced how it has wrecked relationships, spoilt friendships and broke career paths, I now understand.
Thank you John. Your book has given me the tools to make at least the rest of my life significantly more fulfilling.
One of the best mental health books I’ve ever read.

Powerful book
Wow this book is so powerful it needs to get wider recognition to encourage people to understand there anger and to seek help. When John describes anger as an addiction it struck a cord with me and how so many of us don’t realise that it actually is! I’ve spent so long being angry I felt like it was all I knew but that turns out to be something I grew up around Johns books have been teaching me to be kinder to myself and those around me. If you want the change bad enough this book can actually show you how. This is my second book of johns and I can’t wait to read others. Thank you so much John!

Highly recommended and well worth listening to
I had already read the book and I was intrigued to find out how the audible version compared. It’s really very effective. The book is read in a calm, non-judgmental and understanding style by a therapist who admits that he has personal experience of many of the issues covered in the book.
The book is very helpful in explaining some of the underlying causes of anger and in providing exercises that are very well worth pursuing. The advice is grounded in a strong sense of realism about the perseverance and commitment needed. However the benefits of demonstrating this are very well justified. The hypnotherapy recording at the end of the book is a really valuable bonus.
I do prefer reading, however I found the calm style of this book very helpful and relaxing at the end of a long day. If like me you want to understand these issues further then it is well worth giving this recording a go. Thank you John.

He’s done it again!
This is far more than a book about anger management; it’s about compassion, self compassion, empathy, understanding, integrity, and so much more. Yes, anger management is perhaps the overriding theme, but so much of John’s advice and practical exercises can be applied to much more than anger management. Once again, it gives not just information but also indispensable useful tools. It presupposes that the reader wants not just understanding, but also the wherewithal to take responsibility and to learn new patterns of behaviour to make constructive and positive change. I sort of get the impression that if it was a recipe book it would come with samples of food! Like a recipe book too, the benefit comes by following the instructions to get the ‘feeding’ and the desired results. Reading the book, and/or listening to the narration, are truly helpful,
As with his other books, John also gives a soothing half hour session of hypnotherapy/relaxation/visualisation.
I really like the sound of his voice and the way that he narrates it shows not only understanding of his subject matter but also understanding of and genuine care and concern for his listeners. This comes across too though in the, “read it yourself“ version, It’s well worth a read/listen and well worth following his exercises and making changes. Thank you John.
