About this listen
Talking to people about your designs might seem like a basic skill, but it can be difficult to do well. In many cases, how you communicate with stakeholders, clients, and other non-designers may be more important than the designs themselves. Because if you can't get their support, your work will never see the light of day - no matter how good it is.
This practical guide focuses on principles, tactics, and actionable methods for presenting your designs. Whether you design apps, websites, or products, you'll learn how to get support from people who have influence over the project with the goal of creating the best user experience.
Walk through the process of preparing and presenting your designs.
Understand stakeholder perspectives and learn how to empathize with them.
Cultivate both implicit and explicit listening skills.
Learn tactics and strategies for expressing the most effective response to feedback.
Create the right documentation for your decisions to avoid repeated conversations.
Discover why the way you follow through is just as important as the meeting itself.

The most transformative book for five years
For year's I've struggled to influence the direction product development as I lose "battles" time and time again. I've spent half my career trying to find ways through with limited success.
The human skills and tactics that have brought me joy are here and many more. The book balance's the theory and very actionable practcies you can start using today. While it's not a silver bullet, the author never proclaims such. Actually it's pretty clear a lot of the practices take a concerted effort that will later pay dividends.

It paints the picture of how an ideal meeting and collaboration should be
Great read, A lot of useful tactics and concepts to help you understand the “corporate politics”.
Maybe a tad too positive. But who knows the point is to actually start to see things in a better light even if they are not. Definitely a big part is the mindset itself. But for example at some point he talks about working with actual sociopaths without seeing too concerned about it. In my experience that can backfire badly if you don’t treat them as such.
If anything I would have like more examples of longer arguments that had back and forth, as many time you can’t win the battle with just one liner or by planning just what you gonna say.

No value
It's one of those books - talking about talking without anything meaningful to add. What's even worse is that following the advice from the book makes you a worse person.
