Not bad

I was lucky to receive a review copy free of charge and although this is a short book (novella) it's not bad as this type of story goes.

The characters are not as well drawn as you'd expect from a long novel, but are not bad for such a short story, Nathan has amnesia but we don't learn why until we are introduced to his girlfriend Candace later in the story, Ed is his best friend I assume but it's never explained but we are told about a strange tale involving a non paying tenant who used to rent from Nathan, this is rather irrelevant to the tale and should have been left out in my opinion, Nathan seems to have a lot of memories of rage concerning non paying tenants generally which also seems a bit odd, maybe it develops relevance in book 2.

The narrator is good to listen to, well paced reading speed for the story but does make some rather annoying mispronunciations, most noteably 'spasmodically' being pronounced as 'spasmatically'.

In conclusion, it's a good enough way to while away four or so hours if you like an apocalyptic tale, I found myself longing for the zombie horde to arrive though as my preference is for zombocaplytic tales but thought I'd try a different flavour when the opportunity arose.
