Very thorough and educational

I had never really heard of attachment issues until my daughter's therapist talked to me about her abandonment issues, which turned out to be an attachment issue. Curious, I asked her if there were other attachment styles, and she started listing them. To my surprise, I personally connected with one of them.

What I love about this book is that it doesn't just focus on one type of attachment style; it includes a quiz to help you find your own. Chapters 4 and 5 resonated with me the most because I experienced a very traumatic event in my childhood that I've never fully healed from. The roadmap provided on how to work through and begin healing gave me something to work towards and keep track of.

My hope is that all the work I put in from Chapter 4 will help me with Chapter 5, which focuses on improving relationships. I've always kept my husband at arm's length, and I'm finally realizing why. This book offers a lot of hope to people who may not understand attachment theory and how addressing these issues, or even just understanding these attachment styles, can greatly improve their lives.

Great listen!

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook because it tackles a very relevant topic that I've recently been looking into. I think so many relationships are toxic because we don't understand ourselves first and foremost. The information was presented in a clear way, and broke down the attachment styles well. The different types of attachment style and it’s impact on our relationships

This was a really insightful book on attachment and its effect on our relationships. It was particularly interesting identifying the different attachment styles and how it affects us in our working relationships. I was able to recognise the various attachment styles in my colleagues at work and this book gives your strategies for not only identifying your own attachment style as a leader and manager but also that of others which can help foster great relationships by playing to each strength. The books looks at anxious, avoidant, disorganised and secure attachment and practical excersises to enable us achieve secure attachment. It is so insightful looking at strategies such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, MINDFULNESS, BREATHING excersises ETC some to be done via a licensed therapist and some self help strategies. A great book for managing emotional dysregulation. As a mental health practitioner I like that this is not a text book but a simple way to understand attachment theory.

I’ve struggled with anxious attachment for years, and this book was a real eye-opener. The exercises and insights were practical and easy to follow, giving me the tools I needed to heal and grow. It’s honestly changed how I approach my relationships.
