About this listen

Maximilian Storm has embraced his new life as a Battleborne. Reincarnated on a strange world in a powerful chimera body, he has gathered friends, made enemies, and developed wondrous new magical and physical abilities. He’s even discovered that a couple of his men, Smitty and Dylan, have chosen to join him on this world.

Max is on a mission to secure and expand his newly conquered kingdom, Stormhaven. But War Chief An’zalor wants his mine back. When he sends a small army of orcs to capture it, Max’s party, along with his dwarven and orc allies, must help him defend his new territory.

An epic quest is discovered, sending Max and his core party into the wilds to track down and retrieve a powerful artifact. New friends are discovered, and new challenges met along the way. When Max ventures off on his own, he discovers a lost territory, and an ancient dwarven secret that may change the lives of everyone. A secret that might also end his own life, and his reign.

An excellent book and most enjoyable !listen

This is an interesting and well done story. I enjoyed book 1 and this was an entertaining follow on.

The plot was entertaining and there was some nice little twists on what I expected. I do like the world that has been created.

I like Max and his companions. The differing races a nice idea.

We get another point of view and someone the polar opposite of Max. That was unexpected and a very intriguing idea. Conflict seems inevitable but how this character grows does offer greater insight into the world.

The narrator did a good job, thank you. I also liked the minimal use of stat pages as they can break the flow of a story.

I look forward to the next book.

Refreshing and addictive

As a gamer and fan of epic fantasy books, this book is an unexpected and amazing combination of hobby's. While at first i was hesitant about the intergration clear gaming elements in a book, i quickly came to love it. Blasted though book 1 and 2 in a matter of day's and can't wait for the next book(s) in this series to appear.

Another excellent production

A great match up of the narration talents with the creative talents thought of by Wilmarths storytelling.
As this is the 2nd one then the world is quite well fleshed out as usual and the characters thrive exceedingly well in line with Wilmarths usual plot. Although this is unusually lucky compared to a lot of other genre stories such is the engaging listening produced your soon lost within the plot.
Can't wait to get the next book/audio in this series as I really want to see what happens next.
