Summary

For more than 20 years, John Gray's Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus has helped couples deepen their intimacy and rejuvenate their love lives. Men and women, it revealed, communicate so differently, we might as well be from different planets. By learning to speak each other's language, millions of people dramatically improved, even saved their relationships.

But the world has changed.

Today, what it means to be a man or a woman is more nuanced and complex than ever. Both men and women are now freer to move beyond the restrictions of traditional gender roles to embrace their authentic selves.

But gender freedom shouldn't mean gender blindness. Men and women are still fundamentally different on a hormonal level. Our new needs in today's evolving and stressful fast-paced world - to remain healthy and happy hormonally and in the context of our relationships - are also fundamentally different.

As the roles of men and women evolve, relationships must evolve as well. To meet our new needs, we require a new kind of relationship.

In Beyond Mars and Venus, Gray takes the Mars-Venus framework to the next level, helping listeners to grow together in love. Through real-life examples and simple exercises, Beyond Mars and Venus shows you how to bring you and your partner closer than ever before.

Not as good as original

The original was much better in terms of explaining differences and giving tips on how to use language more effectively in couples go harmony. This one was more scientific and pretty dull unfortunately. I don’t think I learned anything.

Must read for anyone in a relationship

I feel that this this book is so important to me.

It provides me with an understanding of how to navigate my relationship.

I want my relationship to work and will use the knowledge to make it work.

Additionally, I am in awe to know how intricate our creator is in making us such that even hormones play a role in how we should best treat each other, for our own happiness.

Disappointing so far...

I enjoyed the first book but I'm struggling with this. It seems the same points are getting repeated in different ways. I don't understand why. It's giving me a headache! I've learned anything yet but I will keep listening on in the hope it'll get better.

Says the same thing over and over again

He says the same thing over and over again. Just on slightly different ways. Not good really

Very useful information

I did not find this book an easy listen but I found the information extremely useful. I particularly learned a lot about how male and female hormones affect men and women differently and about how important it is for each gender, when stressed or depleted, to take action to return to their male or female side. Understanding these principles can really help couples build a happier, more peaceful relationship.

a good follow up to the 1st Venus Mars book

a good follow up but not a great one. I enjoyed the psychological/behavioural aspects of the book and the role mate soul mate concept for modern times .

what I did not like was the simplistic attitude that menopausal women can prevent taking hrt by charting their cycle with the new moon/fullmoon and eating better/doing activitues that boost estrogen. also the scaremongering of hrt causes cancer. not really keen on a relationship advisor telling people hrt in unnecessary - a woman's body is her own to choose what is best for her. yes knowing about feminine cycles, biology is supportive and useful but not a simple magic cure fir menopause symptoms .
