Hooked on Dresden

I am loving this series!
As ever Dresden finds himself in a somewhat impossible position and somehow manages to make it to the end sarcastic quip.
As ever James Masters narrates with clarity and a performance that is just enough, dramatic but not over the top, characters easily identifiable and expression for every emotion offered.
On to the next!

Great Book

Another excellent book and narration in the Dresden files series.

This is the 6th in the Series about professional wizard Harry Dresden confronts his past while trying to solve murders surrounding a film set.

while trying to locate a past enemy who has come to town.

I find the series easy to listen to on the go and while relaxing due to James Masters lovely voice

Amazing!!!

I only recently started to listen to the Dresden files and since book 1 I have been hooked. A brilliant performance and extremely well written. Not often does a series of books keep you so engaged however with Jim Butchers writing style and James Marsters' delivery it's a sure winner.

Good story but mixed messages

I'm working my way through the series whilst waiting for new rivers of London books as it's on the same lines. When I was first recommended these books I saw that a lot of reviews were saying it's pretty heavy on sexism. That heads up actually helped as I anticipated the issue but this book, book no 6 is too much for me. I know many will think it's over sensitive and I do want to say it's a good story and I really enjoyed lots of parts but I just can't get my head round this being written in 2004 not 30 years earlier! I can get on board with the old chivalry, that's just who he is but he constantly drones on about his respect and love of women whilst objectifying every woman he comes in to contact with. Every woman is a potential conquest unless they are unattractive and then he just labels them as so. Apart from necessary situations ie Thomas, that's not something he feels the need to do for the Male characters. He continues to establish himself as a champion of women whilst calling them bitches and whores. We also get schlong jockey for an adult film actress but the Male actors aren't given the same insult despite one threatening him so perfect time for an insult!. it seems to me that when he insults men it's an appropriate insult for that man but when its women its straight to sexuality. For many it's probably not a big deal and as I said I managed to ignore it in the first 5 books but I found myself rolling my eyes and noticing it an awful lot in this book.
