Summary
I always knew I was different.
I'd thought it had to be hidden - to stay a secret.
I didn't know my secret would become the key to my survival.
Turning 18 and getting accepted into college brings me everything I need to escape from the nightmares of my past but I never could have imagined my nightmares - and dreams - were just beginning. Finding myself thrown into a world of fantasy, politics, friendships, and rules that are nearly impossible to understand, I feel like I'm drowning in a world of shifters I never knew existed. As I struggle to find my place and prevent my nightmares from tearing me apart, I find myself surrounded by an unusual group of sexy men. With Hiro, Killian, Theo, Damien, and Ryder I'm trying to become the woman I've always wanted to be, if my past, and my future, will let me.
Contains mature themes.

Performance and accents were distracting
As a story it was fine, scope to develop and build the series from for sure but the performance was very distracting, felt like there was definitely some auto tuning and distorting of the voice as well as some dubious accents which did not enhance the story but made me wince at times. Hard going!

Enjoyed the story but narration was distracting at time
I enjoyed the storyline and the characters but the various accents were distracting especially as you could tell they weren’t their natural dialect. Some questionable points which distracted from the storyline. Would have been better if the narrators used their own accents

Gripping
The story reels you in and you have just have to see what happens next. I have to find the follow on book now. The only thing that spoiled the story are the terrible accents. I am
British but the British accent in the book is more like in the film with the artful dodger! The Scottish accent is awful too. Spoils the book a bit for me.

It’s an okay story, especially for free.
It’s an okay story but very repetitive with a lot of over explaining. I wouldn’t have paid for it.

Great storyline let down by awful narrators
I really enjoyed this book but the narrators attempts at Scottish, English and Australian accents had me gritting my teeth!

Amazing listen
I Dont listen to book that uses shifters as a vocal point but it really suprised it was really good, the narrators was good, loved the way the narrator used there voice to expresss the characters emotion and the authors did a good job on the plot and a excellent cliffhanger I know I will be read the next book for sure.

Born of Embers
Well that’s a surprise, I’m totally swept up in this story. I’ve bought the next book in the series. A swift nod to Brandon whose voice sounds in my dreams as well as my headphones!
