About this listen
Ryan:
After my divorce to Barb, my life has been just me, my little boy, and my job. Some people might call me overprotective, but as the sheriff of Umberland, I know a lot more than they do about what can happen when you let down your guard. When my high school best friend Christian comes to visit, sure, I remember experimenting with him as teenagers, but what I can't ignore is the fierce attraction that still burns between us.
What's even more, Christian makes me feel safe and protected - something I do for everyone else.
I've never been attracted to a man since Christian...but as soon as I lay my eyes on him, I don't think I'll be attracted to anyone else ever again.
Christian:
I knew I was gay forever, it seems. But my first love was the one that stuck with me all these years: Ryan Rainier. He's a big deal in the police department now, and as a man in uniform, he's every bit as gorgeous as he was in those young years.
But Ryan's straight, right? So why does he keep looking at me that way, with hunger in his eyes?
Am I just seeing what I want to see? And can I risk losing a lifelong friend for a shot at love?
Breaking In is the second audiobook in the Rainier Family series and can be listened to on its own. Full of trusty, lusty, second-chance love, breaking down walls, Rainiers for days, and a whole big, bustling small-town family waiting for its HEA.

I had forgotten that I liked this book
I was given this book for free with no expectations of a review. I started listening and remembered that I already had this book on another account.
I'm glad I did. I had forgotten how sweet this story was. Michael Dean's narration was great as usual. Great listen.

New Love
Breaking In is the second book in the Rainier Family series, and although I thought it was more fun to read this book in the series order, it can easily standalone. Ryan Rainier is a single father and the Umberland Sheriff. He’s recently been through a difficult divorce that only adds more stress to his life. Enter Christian, Ryan’s best friend from high school, who has finally come back to Umberland. Christian turns out to be not only everything that Ryan ever wanted, but everything he needs as well. Which is extremely important, because Ryan will be faced with every father’s worst nightmare and will need to lean on Christian’s strength. I loved the family dynamics and second chance love elements. The drama was exciting, and the romance was tender and sweet. I really enjoyed this book.

Ryan and Christian
Having already listened to the first book in the Rainier series, I was looking forward to "Breaking In". I really liked the story of Ryan and Christian.
Ryan, the sheriff of Umberland has just gotten his divorce and now a new chapter in his life begins for him and for his son. Then Christian shows up in town again, Ryan's best friend from his youth. It quickly becomes clear that the two enjoy each other's company and you can feel the mutual attraction. There's more than friendship there, but how does Ryan deal with his feelings for Christian?
There are some ups and downs in the budding relationship. You can tell that the sparks are flying and there are heartwarming moments. Towards the end it gets really exciting and I really felt for the two of them.
Michael Dean did a great job reading as always and brought the story to life with his soulful voice.
A great story about a second chance, great writing and fantastic reading.
Absolutely recommended! I'm already looking forward to the other volumes of the Rainier series.

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Michael Pauley/Dean is one of the 8 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, just over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B
