About this listen
The fifth novel in Julia Quinn's globally beloved and best-selling Bridgerton Family series, set in Regency times and now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix. This is Eloise's story.
My dear Miss Bridgerton,
We have been corresponding now for quite some time, and although we have never formally met, I feel as if I know you. I am writing to invite you to visit me here at Romney Hall. It is my hope that after a suitable period of time, we might decide that we will suit, and you will consent to be my wife.
Did he think she was mad? Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match.
Except...he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled...and when he kissed her...the rest of the world simply fell away. Could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

However I disliked the picture of Marinas' depression. It is described as a great suffering for her husband, and as much as it is it for sure true, there was no true regard for her, while the pain she must have felt (it drive her to suicide after all) must have been unimaginable. She was already melancholic before marriage with a husband who did not love her. And post partum depression must have been difficult to overcome in such circumstances. I especially hated in second epilogue when her daughter Amanda wishes that she killed herself even earlier.
Pictures like that makes people suffering from depression, that horrible disease, in feel that they cannot share their stories, their suffering sat danger of being misjudged. It makes them feel that is actually better to kill themselves to spare the pain of the people around them. And that is never true. Every live matters. And with proper help and treatment it is possible to live happy live.
Grate story but with painful view of depression

I had been looking forward to Eloise's story for some time, and this novel absolutely delivered. I thoroughly enjoyed the story from cover to cover. The world that has been created, the plot, the main characters and the secondary characters (that I've grown to love throughout the series of books) were engaging, compelling and utterly sublime.
The Bridgerton books always give me a warm and happy feeling. They are perfectly crafted, witty, jaunty and riveting. Eloise and Phillip were an opposites attract couple, and their story of a proposal of marriage via correspondence, sets a train of entertaining events in motion that are unstoppable and wonderful.
Rosalyn Landor's narration managed to capture the different characters personalities to perfection.
This audiobook is a must for lovers of regency romances.
