About this listen
I'm a wolf shifter . . . who can't shift.
Twelve years ago, I was hobbled by my alpha, cast out of my pack, and forced into an unfriendly world without any protection. But I'm not exactly helpless.
Despite being unable to shift, I have talents the others don't have. I can see the spirits of dead people, for one. And I have a knack for fighting rogue supernaturals.
My ex-alpha will never let me back in, but there's another alpha in the city.
Something has been killing his wolves, and he wants me to destroy it before it takes another one. He'll triple my going rate—but that's not the thing that makes me agree to help him. He says he can free my wolf. It's not possible, but . . . what if it is?
I'll help him, either way. Monster hunting is what I do, and if there's a monster killing wolves, I will stop it. Because those two warring alphas might believe the city is theirs, but this is my territory.
The city embraced me when the packs wouldn't have me, and I will protect it—with or without my wolf.

Interesting book
There is a lot of our hero’s thoughts, almost to the point of forgetting the other characters. Not quite upbeat enough for me.

It was nice
There is very little world building and we get to see it through a very narrow focus. The story is simplistic however it flowed fast and smooth and was enjoyable. The end felt a bit abrupt but not jarring.
As for the characters, I liked Kait, Rick and Lucy a lot and Gerard was fine.
Sierra Kline was a good narrator and made the listening experience very pleasant.
Spoiler alert -
One thing that annoyed me a lot. When a child is rescued no matter how bad the media is they don't focus on the love life of the detective the next day. MFC at that time was injured and her face was badly bruised, even if the detective had any feelings for her, he would only be looking at her with concern not desire. It felt like the author was forcefully trying to create something to move the story forward in a certain direction. There was absolutely no need for it, this could have been achieved quite organically and more effectively.

Continuous bad language
Great story but a pity about the constant swearing. Won’t read anything else by this author.
