Summary

In a world where the gods hold all the power, Layten and his friends thought they understood the rules. But after being captured by the most powerful caster in Alos, Calmar, they find themselves trapped in a land where magic reigns supreme. With Vilom still plotting to carry out Sartum's task, Layten and his friends must navigate a world they never knew existed.

As Calmar uncovers secrets that could shatter the North and its beliefs, the truth behind Sartum's plan begins to emerge. Everyone seems to be playing a role, except for one enigmatic figure lurking in the shadows.

In this thrilling installment of the series, listeners will be captivated by the dangerous game of power and secrets unfolding. Will Layten and his friends find their way back home, or will they be lost in this magical world forever?

Don't miss out on the heart-pumping action by Joshua C. Cook, award-winning author of The Ascendant Path and The Forgemaster Cycle YA fantasy series.

Excellent continuation of the Ascendant Path story

I listened to Book 4 (Captive) and Book 5 (Unbound) together. Captive was an exciting listen as we follow the stories of Layten, Hopwell, Wix and Gilly, who have all been captured by the evil Calmar and are imprisoned in the south. Their stories unfold through a compelling interlacing structure. No spoilers here though. Go get it!
