About this listen

Carrhae is the fourth installment in the Parthian Chronicles, the adventures of King Pacorus of Dura, and follows on from Parthian Vengeance.

The great Parthian Civil War is over, leaving behind an empire exhausted by years of bloodshed. But no sooner have hostilities ended than Armenia, the client state of Rome, declares war on the empire and unleashes its army against Parthia. Even Dura’s mighty army cannot stave off a series of defeats as the enemies of Parthia circle the empire like hungry wolves. And Pacorus knows that Marcus Licinius Crassus is also marching east to extend Rome’s rule from the Euphrates to the Indus and enslave the whole of Parthia. The scene is set for a final showdown on the battlefield of Carrhae, a clash that will decide the destinies of two empires and two men.

A map of the Parthian Empire at the time of Pacorus (the 1st century BC) can be found on the maps page of my website.

vastly Entertaining

It was sad to see some of the main protagonists fall but it was not usually in the heat of battle but only after victory had been secured.

Finally some emotion between bloody battles and repetitive descriptions

I liked the character of Pacoras as he evolved into a more reflective king and leader. I did not like the new narrator as it made it difficult to

This is a audio book with exceptional story.

This whole series was the best series I've read since the Genghis Khan books by Con Iggluden.

Excellent

The details and description were excellent as were the storyline. The narrator was easy to listen too and his accent added to the feeling of being there. I have already read most of the books in this series and thought I would give audible a try. I wasn't to be disappointed.

the friendship and honour

this story is full of adventure, history, love, friendship, honour and trust. it covers a good span ot time with the full story of the characters
it is written really well and flows along, keeping your interest all the way. the ending was just as I would have liked with Pacorus reuniting with is friends and comrades for another adventure in the afterlife. Thank you for taking me on a Fantastic journey with Pacorus and his family, friends and comrades.

I think this is a reliable audible for us

In Carrhae what really toughed at my emotions was the final scenes where the hero was an old man and dying.

So glad to listen this one.

The characters are crafted by carefully placed descriptions, actions and speech never deviating from the established foundation of who they are and what they stand for, thus for pushing the story to exciting heights.
