Summary

Coaching is a way of managing, a way of treating people, a way of thinking, a way of being. Coaching has matured into an invaluable profession fit for our times and this fourth edition of the most widely read coaching book takes it to the next frontier.

Good coaching is a skill that requires a depth of understanding and plenty of practice if it is to deliver its astonishing potential. This extensively revised and expanded new audio edition of Coaching for Performance clearly explains the principles of coaching and illustrates them with examples of high performance from business and sport. It continues to follow the GROW sequence (Goals, Reality, Options, Will) and clarifies the process and practice of coaching by describing what coaching really is, what it can be used for, when and how much it can be used, and who can use it well.

massively insightful

Content is almost to rich to be suitable for an audio book and I found it at times hard to listen and drive at the same time.
The book covers the basics of coaching excellently and with concrete examples. It then broadens the exploration into a number of relevant and interesting areas such as the development of a countries conscience, behaviour of millennials as they enter the work force and transpersonal coaching.
A real treasure which I will be listening to many times over.

Great book, narration needs a do over

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is easily one of the best coaching books on the market - for me its the coaching bible. I like to maximize my time and listen to a lot of audiobooks whilst tending to household chores and when commuting. I have the paper copy but wanted an audiobook for repetitive learning benefits whilst mobile but I found this audiobook seriously difficult to keep up with due to the narration style - too fast for me to digest. I would even go as far to say I found it exhausting at times. Perhaps it would be okay if when listening to it in a deeply focused manner. If I was rating the book it would get 5. If I was rating the narration, for me, a 1.

A great start

I enjoyed the first half, which had more practical application but I was left a little dissatisfied with the more ambling and academic second half. The first half makes this a worthwhile read regardless.

Good listen

It was very informative and easy to follow. The narrator was a little grating for me but managed to power through. Some parts like transpersonal coaching were a bit heavy but a good book overall.

Poor delivery

Great content spoiled by a monotone 'clipped' delivery. Imagine your worst ever college lecturer..this is that person.
The problem is that because of the delivery I found my mind wandering and I realised I had missed valueable content.
