Summary
The book that revolutionized business communications has been updated for today's workplace. Crucial Conversations provides powerful skills to ensure every conversation - especially difficult ones - leads to the results you want. Written in an engaging and witty style, it teaches listeners how to be persuasive rather than abrasive, how to get back to productive dialogue when others blow up or clam up, and it offers powerful skills for mastering high-stakes conversations, regardless of the topic or person.
This new edition addresses issues that have arisen in recent years. You'll learn how to: respond when someone initiates a crucial conversation with you; identify and address the lag time between identifying a problem and discussing it; and communicate more effectively across digital mediums.
When stakes are high and emotions run strong, you have three choices: avoid a crucial conversation and suffer the consequences; handle the conversation poorly and suffer the consequences; or apply the lessons and strategies of Crucial Conversations and improve relationships and results. Whether they take place at work or at home, crucial conversations have a profound impact on your career, your happiness, and your future. With the skills you learn in this book, you'll never have to worry about the outcome of a crucial conversation again.

Useful tools for interacting with people effectively.
It is very informative with some interesting insights to effectively engaging in crucial conversations. I felt it was quite long winded, and the key techniques could have been linked together earlier in the book instead of stage by stage. The book should have covered all the critical conversation steps in half the book. The second half of the book could have featured case studies, mock scenarios and accounts from attendees of the program. This would have been a more effective way of reinforcing the key observations, strategies and skills outlined in the first part of the book. This repetition of ideas structured this way would have been a more efficient way to demonstrate the excellent guidance of this book. I felt it was very good book nevertheless , and certainly have learned from it.

Very glad I read this.
This book was recommended to me and I’m very glad I followed up. It details very practical tools that will help you structure your conversations and keep them on track (I.e. to help you remain in dialog). Should be required reading by everybody (including, ironically, some of the negative reviewers who appear not to have engaged with the messages in this book - if they had they wouldn’t have been so offended by what it had to say)!

One of the best communication books out there
Also highly recommend YouTube summaries and talks with the authors to re-emphasise the ideas. Fantastic book! I have it both in audio and physical format and it really is the bees knees
