Summary

When I find out he’s a virgin, it makes me hotter than I’ve ever been.

I’m old enough to know better than to get hung up on a 20-year-old twink, but he’s just my type. Problem is, he’s scared of bigger, burlier guys. He needs guidance and protection, the kind I crave giving my subs.

I’d never hurt him, but how can I convince him of that?

Heath is as prickly as they come. For some reason, he can’t believe I want him in my bed. I want to teach him everything. I want him to be mine.

He follows every instruction like he was a born submissive. While most of me wants to watch him flourish under my instruction, I can’t help but remember my last sub. I know I won’t find Heath in another Dom’s bed like my ex. But am I ready to risk my heart again and trust that Heath is as committed as I am?

Great narration!

This is book 6 in one of my favorite series, so hearing the audiobook was a must even if it was the first book I have ever heard narrated by David Allen Vargo. But it was a pleasant surprise. Mr Vargo managed the characters masterfully ensuring that every dialogue and scene flew smoothly with his wonderful performance and voice acting. I enjoyed a lot witnessing Dante and Heath’s story and how romantic situations and kinky scenes intertwined together. Great book with an outstanding narration!

Love this series

I love this series. The characters show so many sides to their personalities. This is one that is especially heartwarming. Two such opposite physically yet so well matching. Heath is so strong in his commitments yet venerable personally. Dante feels the need to protect him. Dante is a sort of a contradiction. He is so fierce and strong yet different with Heath. I am glad to see this series isn’t finished. I love these characters and while the intensity of this story isn’t quite as it was in some of the others the emotion completed it. I was given a free copy from Gay Romance Review of the audio narrated by David Allen Vargo and I have to say I really enjoy the audio editions the most. Somehow really good narration brings the story to life.

Low angst, very sweet

This one took me a bit to get into. It was a lot of back and forth and uncharted territory, but once the MC's committed to what they were doing, it was worth the read. This is the second book in this series that I've read and enjoyed.

Both characters were very sweet and I rooted for them the whole time.

Fantastic

I enjoyed Dante and Heath’s story.

Dante was super intense and the way he watched Heath, like he wanted to devour him, literally gave me goosebumps.

Heath was sweet and I loved it when he put Dante in his place.

Narrator’s performance was brilliant.

Another great book in Hell's Ankhor series

I have been enjoying Hell’s Ankhor series and I really enjoyed reading about Heath and Dante. I love books with baking and this delivered. I thought the miscommunication was perfect and I liked the back and forth. I thought their romance was slow-building, sweet, sexy and got super hot. I liked the pace of the book and enjoyed all the secondary characters having an important part in this story. I would recommend this book.
I really liked David Allen Vargo’s voice. It was so nice to listen to. His pace was enjoyable and I definitely want to listen to him narrate again.

Good, but not as good as the others in this series

This is the 6th book is the fabulous Hell’s Ankhor series, a very accessible MC series that even those who don’t think they would like that gritty world (like me) will find the stories engrossing and the characters captivating. This book - which is a little less fabulous than the other installments - focuses on Dante - who actually isn’t even a member of HA; Dante is the VP of the Liberty Crew, a smaller MC club within the Hell’s Ankhor club’s territory. The story is somewhat ancillary to Hell’s Ankhor, which made it a bit less interesting for me. The premise is that there’s been some “friction” between the clubs and Dante is trying to mend the relationship. Dante, although big, tough and tattooed, is a baker by trade and a teddy bear at heart; he owns Stella’s bakery and often supplies the Hell’s Ankhor crew. Dante leverages this to extend an olive branch to Blade, the HA leader, and agrees to pay reparations for his club’s screw-up by teaching self-defense and, of all things, baking to the Hell’s Ankhor club members.

Heath, nicknamed the Kid because of his age (20) and overt innocence, is a newly patched-in member of Hell’s Ankhor and is tasked with chaperoning Dante when Dante is on premises at the HA clubhouse. The problem? Heath is totally intimidated by the much older Dante, and Dante doesn’t understand why. The book follows the two MCs as they move past their initial judgment of each other based on appearance alone, and slowly start to learn about each other and to trust each other, and the romance ensues from there.

This is an age gap, Dom/sub relationship with action, steam and MCs who you will really like individually, and (somewhat) together. I didn’t find them as authentic as a couple of the pairs in the prior books, maybe because some of their actions and reactions seemed inconsistent at times. Overall, though, it still is a very enjoyable read. This can be read as a stand-alone, although I recommend you read them in sequence because there will be some minor spoilers if you don’t.

In terms of narration, David Allen Vargo gives a solid performance. His voice fits with the tenor of the book and the series because it has a richness and depth to it that is the appropriate counterpoint to the characters and the story. He created two distinct voices and consistently delivered them. His diction is excellent and he is able to impart the right emotion behind the words, although at times, the delivery seemed a bit overdone, like he was trying too hard. Overall, though, I recommend this book and the series.

Great addition to an enjoyable series.

Oh, this book was a sweet surprise, hidden under tattoos and leather. Heath was working on undoing the damage his brothers left behind, but his work isn’t done. He still frightens easily by bigger men. Not as many as before, but Dante is definitely one he runs from. It’s not just his size though; it’s also because he finds himself attracted to Dante. That scares him even more. When Heath is assigned to be Dante’s chaperone, they eventually become friendly, which gradually becomes more. Could these men find what they’ve been missing in each other?

// This was another easy, fun listen. I’ve really enjoyed this series, and these guys. I like how all the entire MC plays an active role in each book, so we get to see more of the guys we’ve come to love. The day they run out of characters to write about is going to be a sad day, indeed.

// David Allen Vargo does a fantastic job bringing this story to life. His voice is perfect for this kind of story, and for these tough, yet complex, men. It’s easy to differentiate who is talking by the varying voices he provides.
